This week we travelled to Freame Park to play against Wentworthville. Once again we started the match well and we managed to trap Wentworthville in their own half for the opening 5 minutes of the match. This pressure was rewarded when Bahir once again punished a poor opposition clearance to open the scoring. Following the early goal, we soon found ourselves camped in their half again until one of their players managed to dribble the ball ra-ther skillfully past all our defenders to even the score line. The match was then quite even with back and forth ac-tion for a large remainder of the half. That was until Wentworthville managed to keep us trapped in our own half in the minutes leading up to half time, but we defended as well as we have all year and went into half time at 1-1.

It was pleasing to see the team play as well in the second half as we did in the first, with Safal and Bahir managing to score the only two goals in the second half. This was due to an excellent all-round defensive effort from the team, who did not stop tackling the opposition until the final whistle. Well done team, a great performance by everyone for the whole match!

Under 13’s lost 1-7 to Newington Gunners at Progress Park

Result of Round 2 Knock Out Match Played

Sunday 26th May

In a disappointing turnout for the Sunday knockout, the result was the same as the last game against Newington

last week, where we would have won with the full team. The nine who turned up played their hearts out and made

the first half end 2-1 down after a goal by JJ.

Special thanks to Lucas, George, and Jaybriel from the U11's who picked up the slack of the team by making the

game possible and stepping up to make me consider giving them all the points. Sean and Juan did well in goals

(including a frantic goal line save by Juan), and everyone did well in defence, only being let down by the people who

decided to stay home.
