The competition : 'Victory Day'

There are a lot of streets on the map of our city. Some of them are named after war heroes. And I live on one of them – Marshal Kazakov Street. I suppose that it is one of the most beautiful streets in Nizhny Novgorod.

I'd like to draw your attention to some information about Vasily Ivanovich Kazakov.

July 18, 1898 - May 25, 1968

● Vasily Ivanovich Kazakov was the central figure of the Soviet Union. He was Marshal of artillery. He participated in fights on Northern and Western fronts.

Interesting facts of life

Vasily Ivanovich was born in a peasant family. He took part in the February Revolution. Kazakov joined the Red Army, and commanded an artillery battery during the Russian Civil War and the Polish-Soviet War. In 1925, Kazakov graduated from the Artillery Academy of Moscow. He joined the Communist Party in 1932. Two years later he finished his studies in the Frunze Academy.

Vasily Ivanovich fought heroically during the Great Patriotic war. His knowledge and wisdom helped his soldiers to win battles.

He had a lot of awards. There are some of them:

● Medal "30 years of the Soviet Army and Fleet" (22.02.1948).

● Medal "40 years of Armed Forces of the USSR" (18.12.1957).

● Medal "50 years of Armed Forces of the USSR" (23.02.1968).

● Award "For Military Valour" of the IV class (Poland, 24.04.1946).

● Award "Gryunvald's Cross" of the II class (Poland, 24.04.1946).

● Medal "For Odra, to Nis and Baltic" (Poland, 26.10.1945).

Connection with our school

Kazakov visited our school twice. He told children about himself, his life, fights he took part in. All pupils were excited and happy.
