ABOUT BUY LOCAL: The Community-Campus Partnership's (CCP) Buy Local Program provides opportunities for local, underrepresented residents to learn how to a start small business here in Aurora. Through a partnership between CCP and the City of Aurora, residents can participate in an entrepreneurial training program offered by the Mi Casa Resource Center. This 20-week program offers training in managing a business and cash flow, conducting industry research, and creating a marketing and business plan, among many other things important to starting a new business. Program graduates may join the Aurora Small Business Owners (ASBO) Group which seeks to establish a variety of resident-driven cooperatives, such as El Albas Catering and Food Services Cooperative. Stimulating economic opportunities locally can help to reduce community displacement and can benefit residents and their families. ABOUT THE CATERERS:

Lozano's Food LLC Mexican and Salvadorian Specialties

Lourdes Lozano was born and raised in Coahuila, Mexico. She and her family have lived in Aurora for over 19 years. She is a member of the Resident Leadership Council that is made up of individuals who work to realize the dreams of residents and small business owners. Lourdes is proud of her personal family heritage, naming her business Lozano's Food LLC, in honor of her father, a hard working man who influenced her to become the entrepreneur she is today. Lourdes is happy to have achieved her life’s goal: to offer the best food experience to her friends, family, and community.

Msosi Kenyan Cuisine: A family business.

The Matini family immigrated to the United States in 2007, through a visa lottery program. Today they offer their recipes from Kenya, preparing food and catering events. In 2018 they obtained their Tri-County license and a food truck to promote their unique offerings. Currently, they park at strategic locations throughout Aurora. Specialties are Samosas, Chapatis, Pilau, Chicken Stews and Mandazi. The Matini’s are ready for you to enjoy their tasty Kenyan food choices!
