The Rest of the Story
The more I read out of Children’s Bibles to my kids, the more I
am amazed at some of the stories that we classify as “children’s” sto-
ries. At some point in our history, certain stories, (especially Old Tes-
tament stories) became tales that we told to our children. We drama-
tized them, wrote songs about them, and made them into children’s
books separate from the Bible. I’m not saying that this is a bad thing.
It is important for our children to know the stories of the Bible. We
should be reading and retelling the not just certain stories, the THE
STORY.
The problem is that some of these stories have been sanitized
to make them appropriate for children. They have been divorced from
the overall story of the people of God. And we’ve told them the way
the Children’s Bible tells them so many times that even as adults we
forget the details. So for the season of Easter (yes Easter is actually 6
weeks long, not just one day!) I will be telling stories. More specifi-
cally I will be telling the rest of the story and how it fits into THE
STORY…the story of our salvation history culminated in the event that
Easter celebrates, the Resurrection.
Read them before you come to worship. Invite your friends,
family, coworkers and neighbors.
Come and hear:

TWIN OAKS SING-A-LONG

This monthly outreach min-istry would be delighted to add new voices to their group. No prior experi-ence required. Call Mac Ham for more details.

Our monthly Food Pantry is held every third Saturday of the month at 9:00 am. If you are aware of anyone in the 29405 or 20418 zipcode who needs food assistance please tell them about our monthly Food Pantry. THANK YOUS TO COKESBURY
With a grateful heart my family and I thank Pastor Megan, all
those who worked with her and Cokesbury’s caring congregation
for the many ways their sympathy and concern have been ex-
pressed. We are richly blessed by the wonderful outpouring of
such love at our time of greatest need.
God bless you all.
Joan Adler and family
Many thanks to all of you who baked cookies for our recent
Kairos weekend. This is a wonderful mission to all the inmates and
guards at Lieber and they were greatly appreciated.
David Wiley and the Kairos Ministry Team
WE ALWAYS NEED MORE SOAP!
Thanks to all of you who have given soap to this on going ministry. Each month Cokesbury UMC furnishes 50 to 60 bars of soap to the community supported Shalom Ministries. You may also chose to give money toward the soap ministry. For more information on this important outreach ask Marian Gentry.
Notes from the Music Ministries.
Good news! I am happy to share with you that this summer four of our children from the Cokesbury children’s choirs, along with two adult chaperons, will be attending a Music and Worship Arts Camp at Lake Junulaska.
We will be organizing a Fundraiser Concert to help with camp expenses on Sunday, June 2, at 4:00 pm, in our sanc-tuary. Look for more details soon.
You may contact Eszter with your questions or your comments at [email protected], or call the church office or my cell phone: (843)513-6443. Thank you.

covered dish meal

The Children’s Department needs cereal boxes!
Now through the end of April we will be collecting cereal boxes for our
June 2012 VBS. These boxes will be painted and used to make a huge
“stone” wall. You can open the ends and flatten them out to make stor-
age easier. Drop them off in the old sanctuary or the mission room lo-
cated across from the game room at the end of the education hallway.

Our 2013 Cokesbury Ladies’ Retreat will be led by Erin Doak, owner of Faith Inspired Training for Today (F.I.T.T.) from Raleigh, NC. Below is a hint of our upcoming weekend retreat journey with Erin…
"Your Word is Life to Me" In His word is where His desire for our life is made known! The main theme for our Women's Retreat will not be revealed until the last day of our weekend together. We will journey together seeking clues through scripture, activities and interactive sessions. Our task will be to discover the main theme and more importantly, why the "theme" is what He wants for all of His children. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints and His incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1: 1-19.
Spring is in the air and our Cokesbury Youth have a busy month planned!
Thursday, April 4th, is a fun trip to Carowinds.
Friday, April 19th, is a Lock-In at Ms. Miriam’s house.
Saturday, April 20th, at 9:00 am, after the Lock-In, the Youth will volunteer
for the Summerville Miracle League.
