BOATS/BUILDING MATERIALS STORED AT HOME
ISLAND GARDEN PLOT AREA
The Shire Ranger would like to remind all Home Island residents that boats and building materials are not allowed to be stored at the garden plots area.
We remind all Home Island residents that the garden plots are controlled by the shire and our ranger continually conducts inspections around garden plot areas for vermin control purposes.
In cooperation with the ranger’s works program we ask that garden plot owners maintain their plots in a tidy condition to prevent any increase in vermin/pests.
Thank you for your co-operation.
KEEPING OF CHICKENS IN BACKYARDS
The Shire Ranger would like to remind that 12 weeks old chickens should be re-located at the designated area (Garden plot).
Chicken pens should not be placed straight onto the ground behind back backyards at any time.
I would like advise that all chicken pens carrying less than 12 weeks chicks should carry a ‘catchment device’ or tray underneath pens to catch waste and to avoid waste from entering straight through the ground.
If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact at the Shire office on 91626649 or email [email protected].
Thank you for your co-operation.

Thought for the Day
Which Half Road? A police officer was investigating an accident on a two-lane, narrow road in which the drivers had hit virtually head-on. One driver, an extremely elderly woman, kept repeating, "He wouldn't let me have my half of the road!" After gathering as much information as possible, he angrily approached the other driver, who was examining his own damage. The police officer asked, "That old lady says that you wouldn't let her have her half of the road. Why not? In exasperation, the man turns from his smashed car and says, "Officer, I would have been HAPPY to give her half of the road --- if she had just let me know WHICH half she wanted!!!!
