The Clarion
June 14, 2015 “To Glorify God by Knowing Christ and Making Him Known.”
Deacon Election
Sunday, June 21, 2015
Please be in prayer concerning the men who will participate in
this vital and God called ministry in our church.
“Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good
reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in
charge of this task.” Acts 6:3
Deacon Election
2015
God has blessed First Baptist Church Headland with
many godly and faithful men. In the normal and
ongoing ministries of our church we observe these men
serving the Lord and the members of the body. Each
year we prayerfully “set apart” seven (7) of these
brothers to serve as active deacons for a three (3) year
term. The seven we elect are already deacons in their
character and ministry among us. We simply
recognize this when we mark our ballots.
During the Sunday Morning Worship Service of June
21, 2015 First Baptist Church will conduct our annual
deacon election. You will receive a ballot as you enter
the Worship Center and mark it during a designated
time of the service and then turn it in. A copy of the
ballot is included in this issue of The Clarion. If you
receive your Clarion by email, the ballot comes as a
separate attachment. Please look it over carefully and
prayerfully. Ask God to direct your thoughts and your
heart as you consider His leading for our church. Your
decision should rest upon the Scriptural qualifications
of a deacon as stated in I Timothy 3:8-10,
Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-
tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid
gain, but holding to the mystery of the faith with a
clear conscience. These men must also first be tested;
then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond
reproach.
In past years God has been faithful to lead His Church
to select good and godly men to serve Him as deacons.
Please pray first before you even read the ballot. Ask
God to direct your heart and mind toward men you
observe as possessing Christ-like character and active
service of His Church. We anticipate that God will
direct us once again as we rely on Him in prayer to
lead us in this 2015 deacon election.
Blessed to serve Christ alongside our deacons,
Cecil Sanders
