10:00 AM Morning Worship Service

Worship Center

Join us for this glorious Christmas Celebration as our "Multi-

Gen Christmas Choir" leads us in an exciting worship experi-

ence that uniquely involves choir, worship team, worship band

and congregation! Hope for the Ages is a powerful and pas-

sionate worship service that involves people of all ages in the

telling of the birth of Jesus Christ through the combination of

Scriptures, arrangements of best-loved carols, incredible new

congregational worship songs, and anthems.

S tarting in 1888, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® was es-

tablished to empower the international missions efforts for

Southern Baptists. After more than a century, the annual offer-

ing continues its steady growth. Your giving enables missionaries to

be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached

peoples and places for the glory of God. Our offering walk will be

Sunday, December 16.

FBC Goal: $78,000

Because It’s Good

for You!

Fill in the blank: “Why do I have to __________?”

Possibilities include…“Eat this vegetable?” “Exercise

regularly?” “Obey my parents?” The Answer in every

case? Because it’s good for you! Some things we just

need to do because they are good for us.

The Psalmist tells us that giving thanks is good for us.

1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing

praises to Thy name, O Most High; 2 To declare Thy lovingkindness in the morning, And Thy

faithfulness by night. Psalm 92:1-2

Giving thanks is good because it reminds us that every

good and perfect gift comes from our Father above

(James 1:17). Often I become ‘spiritually earthbound’.

My feet are tied to the ground and my vision is only

horizontal. My focus turns inward. I compare myself

with others and I become spiritually dull and downright

‘ill’. Know the feeling?

Giving thanks frees me/us from being earthbound. It lifts

the soul to God and brings the right perspective. God’s

very nature is ‘Good’. He loves His people and wants

good for us. Thanksgiving returns our attention to His

goodness toward us. Sometimes we see God’s goodness

clearly. Other times we must ‘believe’ that He is

orchestrating our present difficulties for our good. The

Apostle Paul writes, And we know that God causes all

things to work together for good to those who love God,

to those who are called according to His purpose.

(Romans 8:28)

This Thanksgiving, take advantage of the time off to do

something good for yourself. Look above. Look to the

Lord. Recall what good things He has done for you this

year and thank Him. Similarly, by faith thank Him for

some struggle you’re facing. Thanking Him even then

will raise your soul and bolster your faith. This will

remind you that God is in control and you can trust Him

to work for your good and His glory in whatever is upon

you. It’s good for you!

Happy Thanksgiving!
