From the Pastor’s Desk: Gal 5:22-26
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-
control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and
desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one
another, envying one another.”
I just want to testify that God was at work in our Vacation Bible School! The Holy Spirit was at work even
before the meetings started. He handpicked the leaders, affectionately known as Lucy and Ethel, aliases
Beverly and BJ. They followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and God honored their prayers.
Everything from the purchasing the material to the final program was Holy
and Blessed. The large number of volunteers gave willingly of their time
and talent to bless our children. Every night there was a spirit of
excitement and joy that filled the building. Many proclaimed that this was
a revival of VBS!
As I watched this unfold I could not help but think, “this is the body of Christ
in one accord. What love and power! There was no complaining, grouching or
second guessing the whole week and God honored that Spirit. Everyone did
their appointed task willingly and with joy and it was contagious.”
Many of the children received Christ as personal Savior and learned how to honor that decision and live it out.
I ran into one of the grandmothers who told me her granddaughter said to her, “Granny, you and I are
supposed to go and tell people about Jesus, they need Him! When can we start?” May God keep that zeal
from diminishing!
Again, this teaches us that when we put our personal agendas aside and live out our faith in one accord, God
will show up in a big way. The scripture states that if we live in the Spirit let us also walk in the Spirit.
Thank you to all who came together in one accord and allowed the Holy Spirit of God to flow through you. You
made a difference in the lives of all who attended. The blessing will continue to flow in India. The children
brought an offering each night which was matched by the Missions committee. Fifteen hundred dollars will go
to a special children`s ministry in India to help them hear about Jesus and the blessing goes on!
See you next Sunday,
Pastor Sturman

THANK YOU from VBS
VBS Directors - Bev & BJ want to express our
appreciation—first to God for His wonderful presence at
this event.
We are so thankful for the workers who stepped forward
& used their talents, whether for music, Bible lessons,
snack time, crafts, recreation, skits, cinema,
photographer, teen helpers, custodian, or security, they
all moved in one accord like a well-oiled machine.
For those who donated cookies, juice, water, paper
supplies, picnic fixin's, we had an abundance & there
were absolutely no complaints.
We are still jumping for joy over the amount your
children gave in their offering plus the added blessing
that our mission committee matched making a grand
total of $1500. This will be sent with Jerry Harding to
India for 34 refugee children that he will be visiting in late
August.
Oh yes, almost forgot to tell you we averaged over 66
students each night & had 40 adult workers. Pastor &
Jennifer were always at our beck & call - what a week -
we learned that we are "Created by God-Built for a
Purpose"!

Prayer is a conversation with God, not a formula. Yet sometimes we might need to use a “method” to freshen up our
prayer time. We can pray the Psalms or other Scriptures (such as The Lord’s Prayer), or use the ACTS method
(Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication). I recently came across this “Five-Finger Prayer” to use as a
guide when praying for others:
- When you fold your hands, the thumb is nearest you. So begin by praying for those closest to you—your loved
ones (Philippians 1:3-5).
- The index finger is the pointer. Pray for those who teach—Bible teachers and preachers, and those who teach
children (1 Thessalonians 5:25).
- The next finger is the tallest. It reminds you to pray for those in authority over you—national and local leaders,
and your supervisor at work (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
- The fourth finger is usually the weakest. Pray for those who are in trouble or who are suffering (James 5:13-16).
- Then comes your little finger. It reminds you of your smallness in relation to God’s greatness. Ask Him to supply
your needs (Philippians 4:6,19).
Whatever method you use, just talk with your Father. He wants to hear what’s on your heart.
CELEBRATE RECOVERY
Celebrate Recovery has an open invitation for you to bring
your hurts, habits or hang-ups and come join us. We can
praise the Lord together, for the great things he has done. No
one is really excluded when it comes to needing healing and
we know that “God is good all the time”. Greg and Rick are
now leading CRI (Celebrate Recovery Inside), at Noble
Correctional Institute, where they are teaching
the studies of “Boundaries, when to say
yes and when to say no” and “What On
Earth Am I Here For.” Greg is also
bringing the “Boundaries”, study to us,
starting November 1st to December 20th,
from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm in the old
sanctuary. We are very excited about
this study! Everyone is welcome and we would like to
encourage you to come. We have a sign-up sheet for anyone
interested in helping with the float for the Christmas Parade
this year. We welcome any suggestions and volunteers.
Come and bring your talents with you. It will be fun!
There is also a sign-up sheet for the “Men’s 12 step study”, led
by Dale. This is a great study. As always, we pray for those
we are still hurting and don’t forget to pray for each other. You
will surely be blessed! We give you an open invitation to join
us for great music, fellowship and healing. Hope to see you on
Thursday 6-8 pm. As always, “No perfect people allowed”.
