VARIED STUDY OPTIONS
CIMA can be studied in a number of different ways to suit your preference and lifestyle.
Tuition classes offer classroom experience, giving you the benefit of qualified lecturers, face to face tutoring and interaction with fellow CIMA students.
Distance learning packages offer you a structured training programme and tutorial support. There are a number of accredited online tuition providers.
Online learning and study resources allow you to study at your own pace. CIMAstudy.com is the official online learning system which takes you step by step through the CIMA qualification. If you are working, you might want to consider asking your employer for support, including financial support and time off to study and sit your exams. Support is given at your employer’s discretion.
Self study by using the CIMA study texts and some of the great, free study support material on our website. We’ve provided help at every level, including past papers, study guides, useful technical articles and an online student network.
CIMA is recognised as a professional body by the South African Qualifications Authority and its designations as well as its qualifications are registered on the South African National Qualifications Framework. It is also recognised by the Public Accountants & Auditors Board of Zimbabwe.
There are benefits offered in South Africa, in the form of tax deductions for employers, should they register you on a learnership.
FLEXIBLE ENTRY ROUTES
School leavers
Masters in Accounting or MBA
Graduates
Professional body member
If you are a school leaver, or over the age of 16 with no qualification, the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting is your starting point.
Enter via our Masters Gateway. You write one assessment that covers the certificate, operational and management levels of the qualification. On passing, you proceed directly to the strategic level.
If you have already completed a degree, there may be elements of the CIMA qualifications that you’ve covered during your degree or other tertiary or professional course of study. CIMA recognises this by awarding exemptions for previous learning. You can check what exemptions you are eligible for on our website.
If your professional body is a member of the International Federation of Accountants, and you qualified by examination, you are eligible for the Professional Gateway. Simply pass one exam to gain entry to the strategic level.
