A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family, Jesus Christ has risen and Fr. Lopez is 36 years old today! Happy Easter to all of you, especially those visiting or coming here for the first time. We are glad you are here. A few years back, a retired man came to Easter Mass then joined our parish. He got to know people and became involved in our Monday night dinners which led him to the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He does a tremendous amount of service and he brings many laughs and joy to these ministries. He has also educated us on small town southern Illinois. We are so blessed that he is part of our parish. He is a wonderful example of a wonderful professional person who retired and has served so many in need in his retirement. This weekend we are so blessed to bring many into the church (See Page 5 for their names and Sacraments they received). We have a wonderful and diverse group this year who have inspired those who have gotten to know them. I hope you have a blessed Easter weekend and have had a wonderful Spring Break. At the time I write this, I do not know whether Loyola has won to play for the championship, but what a wonderful story for them, our faith and the delightful example of Sister Jean who has brought joy and a whole new dimension to this experience. It has been a proud week in sports to be Catholic. Have a Blessed Easter! Father Paul

A winter health scare motivated a local elderly woman to lose a significant amount of weight. As she stayed current with the payment plan for her medical bills, she found she was unable to afford the smaller-sized clothing she needed or the food necessary to make it between social security payments. The St. Vincent de Paul Society was able to assist with the purchase of a new coat, several bags of food and a gift certificate to Salvation Army. ¡Resucitó! El evangelio de san Marcos pone de relieve que el “crucificado” ha resucitado, no para volver a una nueva vida terrenal, sino que ha sido elevado a una nueva di-mensión: con la fe en la resurrección de Jesús encuentra la comunidad primitiva su propia salvación, contempla así su futuro definitivo. La Resurrección de Cristo es el principio y fundamento de la fe cristiana, pues "si Cristo no resucitó, vana es nuestra fe" ( 1 Cor 15, 16s). La Resurrección de Cristo es el culmen de la Historia de la Salvación: Jesús ha vencido al pecado y a la muerte y es el principio de nuestra justifi-cación y de nuestra futura resurrección. Las tres mujeres que habían estado en la crucifixión: María de Magdala, María la de Santiago y Salomé se reúnen, como era costumbre entre los judíos, para visitar la tumba de Jesús, deseaban, además, ungirlo debidamente, pues la tarde del viernes todo había sido muy precipitado. El reposo sabático no les había dado la oportunidad de hacer-lo. Ahora, al despuntar el día, se dirigen al sepulcro, no sin un profundo dolor y una viva emoción. Aquí nace la importancia del domingo cristiano. A esto se debe añadir que “el primer día” es el día de la creación. La nueva creación re-toma la antigua. Así, el día de la resurrección es también fiesta de la creación: la comuni-dad cristiana da gracias a Dios por el don de la creación. Id a decir a sus discípulos y a Pedro. Las mujeres reci-ben el encargo de decir a Pedro y a sus discípulos que “el crucificado ha resucitado”. Aquellas mujeres que habían conocido a Jesús, que habían visto sus milagros, que habían oído su predicación, que habían sido objeto de su misericordia y que lo habían visto materialmente de-strozado en la cruz, reciben un mensaje inesperado y desconcertante para ellas: “el crucificado ha resucitado”. Aquel que ellas tanto amaban y por el que habían arries-gado su vida siguiéndole hasta la cruz, ha resucitado. No simplemente ha vuelto a la vida, sino que ya no muere más. Se debe notar, sin embargo, que las primeras en anunciar la resurrección del Señor fueron las mujeres. El catecismo de la Iglesia católica nos dice: “La Resurrección de Jesús es la verdad culminante de nues-tra fe en Cristo, creída y vivida por la primera comunidad cristiana como verdad central, transmitida como funda-mental por la Tradición, establecida en los documentos del Nuevo Testamento, predicada como parte esencial del Misterio Pascual al mismo tiempo que la Cruz: Cristo resucitó de entre los muertos. Con su muerte venció a la muerte. A los muertos ha dado la vida!

Niños y Jóvenes de Catecismo El sábado 28 de abril es el retiro para todos los niños que se preparan para hacer su Primera. Comunión. Este será de 9:00 AM—9:30 AM. Todos los niños que se preparan para recibir este sacramento deben asistir. Los ensayos son de acuerdo a la misa que usted haya elegido. Si usted escogió la misa del 5 de mayo a las 11 AM, y domingo 6 de mayo a las 10 AM sus ensayos son el sábado 28 de 9:30 -10 AM. Si usted escogió la misa del domingo 6 a las 12 PM, los ensayos son el sábado 28 de abril de 8:30 -9:00 AM. Para los jóvenes que recibirán la Confirmación, su ensayo será el domingo 29 de abril de 3:30-4:30 PM. La cele-bración de las confirmaciones es el martes 1ro. de mayo a las 5:30 PM.

Viaje de Misón El grupo de jóvenes de nuestra parroquia estará llevando a cabo el viaje de misión este año a San Louis Missouri del 8 al 14 de julio. Padres de familia, motiven a sus adolecentes a que participen de esta experiencia compartiendo con otros jóvenes esta gran misión. El servicio que ellos hacen tiene un valor incalculable que permanece con ellos el resto de sus vidas, no solamente en la labor que hacen sino en la parte espiritual compar-tiendo su fe, sus talentos y sus ideas. El costo por el viaje es de $385.00 pero sólo tiene que dejar $125.00 de depósito y el resto se recaudará junto al equipo haciendo diferentes actividades o con la ayuda de patrocinadores. Preparando alimentos para P.A.D.S Los Santos Apóstoles es uno de los anfitriones de la organización P.A.D.S. (Acción Pública Para brindar Refugio) PADS es una organización comunitaria que busca proporcionar comida y refugio a personas sin hogar durante los meses más fríos del invierno desde octubre hasta el mes de abril en el condado de Mchenry. Register Now for a Life-Changing Trip to Catholic Heart Work Camp in St. Louis Ask anyone who’s been on a Mission Trip and they’ll tell you that it changed them forever. Come serve the poor with our Holy Apostles team this summer! Turn in your deposit ($125) and registration form to Carmen Lopez in the Youth Ministry Office. Please make checks payable to: The Church of Holy Apostles (in memo put: Teen Mission Trip and participant’s name) Fees: Deposit $125 Balance $260 Total Cost $385 Each participant is only allowed to pay the $125 de-posit fee. The remaining cost of $260 will be raised both individually and as a team. (Individual sponsor-ship $200 and group fundraising $60)

Holy Apostles Cemetery Rules The following items are not permitted in the cemetery: · Glass of any kind; · Solar lights; · Metal of any kind; · Candles of any type; · Grave blankets or coverings. In addition, pets are not allowed and smoking and pic-nics are not permitted. These restrictions are neces-sary for the safety of both visitors and staff and to be respectful of our deceased loved ones buried there. By just clicking on any of the links, you will be able to do many of the tasks you have had to either call in about or physically come into the Parish Office to do like register in the parish, arrange for a baptism, pay FFF or Noah’s Ark Preschool tuition and more! Jesus Dwells in the Blessed Sacrament... ...day and night, because of His infinite love for you! Pray, listen, and feel the peace that Jesus gives us so lovingly—come spend some time with our Lord at the All Saints Perpetual Adoration Chapel on the Holy Apostles campus. Please pray about committing to being a permanent adorer, either by yourself, with a prayer partner or even a group to rotate weeks.

Candles Burn for Your Intentions Four candles surround the Blessed Sacrament in the All Saints Perpetual Adoration Chapel, each burning for 14 days. Request your own personal intentions for their duration by contacting the Parish Office at 815-385-5673. The suggested donation is $15 per candle. From March 25 through April 7 with these candles, your prayers have been requested by Paula Mora, Donald Dziedzic and Leonila Rebolleda.
