Thankful Praise

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder,

consider all the worlds Thy hands have made.

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul,

my Savior God, to thee.

How great Thou art! How great thou art!

Then sings my soul,

my Savior God, to thee.

How great Thou art! How great thou art!

So goes the first verse of the most popular hymn in the Christian

hymnal. It is a song of praise, adoration and acknowledgement for the

power and majesty of God in our midst.

What is it that makes your heart sing praise to God? If your praise is

based upon the circumstances of your life, then it is hollow and thin, lacking

depth and power. Circumstantial praise is as fleeting as the circumstance.

Power and depth come through a relationship based upon mutual love,

grace and perseverance. In our relationship with God, the power comes

through the reality of God’s presence in our lives regardless of the

circumstances. It is the knowledge that God’s love will ultimately prevail.

Our future has been charted, not by what we do, but by what God has

already done. What has God done? Look at the third verse of the great

hymn:

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,

sent him to die, I scarce can take it in;

that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

he bled and died, to take away my sin;

That is where thankful praise originates in our souls. God is gracious,

God will be with us now and forever, and our future has already been

determined! How can your soul not sing?

Then sings my soul,

my Savior God, to thee.

How great Thou art! How great thou art!

Then sings my soul,

my Savior God, to thee.

How great Thou art! How great thou art!

Congregational Informational Meetings

After careful consideration and analysis of all of the feedback and input from the congregation, the Building Committee would like to recommend several enhancements to the renovation plan. The Building Committee invites YOU to attend an informational meeting regarding the proposed enhancements. There will be three meetings, and you are welcome to attend one or all. The same information will be

shared at all three meetings:

Sunday, February 17th

@9:20 am in Wesley Hall

Sunday, February 17th

@11:40 in the Sanctuary

Thursday, February 21st

@ 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary

David Collins from McCarty, Holsaple, McCarty and members of the Building Committee will be presenting information relating to the enhancements. A Church Conference led by the Maryville District Superintendent will be held, at a later date to be determined, after the informational meetings, to cnsider and vote on the improvements.

A “super” effort

On Superbowl Sunday YOU helped fill up five shopping carts with canned goods, dry foods and much more! All of these items will be delivered to the Food Connection of Blount County. A big THANK YOU to all who participated. If you weren’t able to make a donation this time, the carts are always here and there is always a need for the food.

*Please DO NOT bring any magazines, only food.
