Serving the Lord in Cuzco, Peru

Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!Psalm 126:5

This verse reminds us of what theLord did at the begining of ourministry here, when we were firststarting VEN-ID Baptist Church. We sowed with tears and todayGod has allowed us to see theharvest: many families, youngpeople, and children makingdecisions for the Lord anddedicating themselves to service.

In October, as a church wecelebrated the family. The Sundayservices were focused on worshipand teaching around the home, how it was established by God andhow He gave principles to sustainit. We prepared an all-church lunchat the end of the month. Glory toGod for families.

We give thanks to God that the churchnow supports a pastor and an assistant.Pastor José Churata and Eugenio Pariwere ordained during a Sunday serviceand are now taking over leadershipresponsibilities in the church. Icontinue working in the church as aSunday School teacher for the adultclass, overseeing the discipleship ofnew believers, and preaching onThursday nights for the prayer service.

In November we welcomed MissionaryWilber Quispe, who spoke about hisministry in the jungle. The church ispraying and desirious to support him

and his work.

Our work in training church pastorsand leaders throughout thecountryside continues to bear fruit. Itis sad, however, to see so manydiscouraged and disheartened pastors. On the other hand, young people inthe Cctcca zone are coming fortraining, and we pray that God willcall them to the ministry.

There is a group of between 20-30children in the church that come everySaturday. We are working with themto form a choir to praise the Lordduring a service celebrating thecoming of our Lord Jesus Christ tothis world. They will sing and thenreceive gifts (we are asking God toprovide for those gifts).

For two weeks I have the privilege ofcounseling a young couple that will bemarried on the 27th of this month. Reynaldoand Julia are new believers that want to serveGod. Next week I’m also counseling a couplethat is going through some difficult times intheir marriage. I ask for your prayers forthem, that they will obey the will of God. OnFriday I have to travel to Desaguadero toattend the wedding of Pastor José Huallpaand his fiancée Yolanda. It’s such a greatblessing to serve these couples.
