President’s Report 31-05-2016

Another week has gone by and we are entering the final stage of the year. Looking back it has been a great year with all the projects that have been accomplished by our members.

Next Tuesday should be a good event with a visit to see how Southern Cross Care operates. This is a joint meeting with members from RC Dandenong. We still have not decided the transport required for the trip over to Dandenong. All we ask that the participants meet at the Dorset Gardens car park at 5.30p.m.

In the coming year we need to strengthen our membership. There are quite a number of tools coming through from the District to assist you in helping to develop new members. Please check out the web site. It is not that hard when you have the ammunition to seek out potential members.

http://www.membershipmadeeasy.org.au/

If you need assistance all you have to do is ask.

I am repeating information from last week for your information.

You are cordially invited to attend the District Changeover on the 25th of June 2016.

This year your Club, RC Croydon has through your efforts performed extremely well in regards to the expectations of Rotary International. You, through your club, will be honoured for your efforts for the year on the night. Why not be there representing your club. It is going to be a great evening. We would like to share it with you. Contact me and confirm your attendance. There is further information attached in the Chronicle.

On the 28th of June we will be holding our Annual Changeover Dinner. We have been able to organise the dinner to be held at Bram Leigh Reception Centre. This is an exciting venue and the evening should be memorable for all concerned. Further information is inside the Chronicle. We could fill up the venue. Please contact John Hexter on: [email protected] or Jean Stuart on [email protected] as soon as possible and book your seat or even a table.

Cheers, Richard

Wheelchairs for Kids in Need

Last evening May 24, Lateline on the ABC ran a story about Wheelchairs for Kids. Wheelchairs for Kids is a volunteer organisation based in Perth that provides a free wheelchair to children in need of mobility in developing countries.

Several years ago the Partners of our Club raised $10,000 for this program over a 12 month period. Whilst the money raised helped pay for a wheelchair for many kids the social interaction and team spirit generated by this event was the major benefit to our Partners and our Club.

I urge you to click on the links below and have a look at the Wheelchairs for Kids program and the benefits it brings to the Kids in need but also to the volunteers who manufacture the wheelchairs.
