Walk as Light Darkness

In God there is no darkness (1 John 1:50); men love darkness rather than light (John 3:19); we wrestle against the world rulers of this present darkness (Eph. 6:12); the fool walks in darkness (Ecclesiastes 2:14); if we say we have fellowship with God and walk in darkness, we lie (1 John 1:6); he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness (1 John 2:11).

Walk as Light God Promises Light

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light (Isa. 9:2); the light shines in darkness (John 1:5);

God who commanded light to shine out of darkness has shone in our hearts the light of the knowledge of God (2 Cor. 4:6); he called you out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9); once you were darkness but now you are light in the Lord (Eph. 5:8); he who follows me shall not walk in darkness but will have the light of life (John 8:12); He has delivered us from

the domain of darkness (Col. 1:13)

Walk as Light God Gives Light

The Lord is my light (Ps. 27:1); the Lord will be your everlasting light (Isa. 60:19–

20); the Lord lights my darkness (2 Sam.

22:29); Ps. 18:28); the Lord has given us light (Ps. 118:27); the entrance of your words gives light (Ps. 119:130).

Walk as Light Jesus is the Light

John came to bear witness to the light (John 1:7; John

1:8); Christ would be the first to announce light (Acts

26:23); I am the light of the world (John 8:12; John 9:5); a light of revelation to the Gentiles (Luke 2:32); the light that enlightens every man (John 1:9); the life was the light of men (John 1:4); daylight from on high dawns on us (Luke 1:78); the true light is already shining (1

John 2:8); believe in the light to become sons of light (John 12:36); the light of the gospel of

the glory of Christ (2 Cor. 4:4)

Walk as Light Now – We Shine His LightYou are the light of the world (Matt. 5:14); let your light shine before men (Matt. 5:16); believe in the light to become sons of light (John 12:36); you are children of the light (1 Thess. 5:5); nations will come to your light (Isa. 60:3); shine, for your light has come (Isa. 60:1); we share in the inheritance of the saints in light (Col.

1:12); light dawns for the righteous (Ps. 97:11); darkness would become brighter than noon (Job 11:17); you will see and be radiant (Isa. 60:5); they looked to him and were radiant (Ps. 34:5);

he who does the truth comes to the light (John 3:21); he who loves his brother abides in the light (1 John 2:10); if we walk in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship with each other (1 John

1:7); I have set you as a light for the Gentiles (Acts

13:47).

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.

ASK

1. If God’s light were to publicly expose all of my life – including my motives – what would everyone see?

2. What kind of influence do I have on the people I interact with?

3. In what ways am I covering up the light or preventing it from shining?

Because of God’s great love for us, He gave us light in darkness. Christ came and paid our debt and made us His child. Now we are to reflect His light to the people around us.

about how I can be a light to every person I encounter.

2. Today, I will honestly evaluate whom I am trying to

please with my life.3. I commit myself to

getting as much of God’s light into my life as I can.

“You are the light of the world. . . let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14,16).
