CATHIE’S CHAT The Chatter Celebrity City Chorus is dedicated to barbershop harmony, sisterhood, musical performance and education. JANUARY 24, 2017 Dear Amazing Celebrities, It is the time of year where we get ready to have some dedicated time away from Las Vegas and focus on US, as a chorus. Our retreat faculty, this year, is our friend, Bobbette Gantz. Bobbette is a very experienced Sweet Adeline. She is the former director of Channelaire Chorus, a current member of Verdugo Hills Chorus, and a certified judge in the sound category. Our time in Mesquite will be focused on our contest music, Changes and My Buddy. However, I'm sure there will be time for some fun and bonding with your sister singers as well. Retreat is a time to focus on the positive, work on the areas we need work, and dig into the 'barbershop' of our music. This week, in rehearsal, there will be time for anyone to qualify both My Buddy and Changes, as well as a chance to run our music as a set. We are gearing up for contest! Please take every opportunity to be on the risers, ready to perform! It's GREAT to be a CELEBRITY! ANNOUNCEMENTS If you know you won’t be able to be at retreat the whole planned time (7-10 Friday, 9-5 Saturday, and 9-noon Sunday), or if you’ll miss the whole event, please let Patti know via e-mail ASAP. ([email protected]) Jan will be at rehearsal at 6:00 for those who want extra help with choreo. Thanks, Jan! Start bringing your black shoes to rehearsal so you can practice in them for contest. Bring them to retreat, too! Rose was pleased most members were at her house for the final fitting of the costume. If you were unable to be there, please make an appointment with Rose to get this done. Also, anyone with a machine who can help sew, Rose would welcome the help. Cheryl is working on a new roster and is adding a column for cell phones. If your cell is listed as your home phone and not marked with a “c,” please let Cheryl know. There will no longer be a column for work numbers. There is a sign up sheet on the back table to help with the risers on Jan. 27; pick up at the church is 1:15 p.m. Help is needed in Mesquite to unload the risers, too, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Kathy Cox is collecting the $55 fee for Retreat. Please have the money to her this week. Because there are no ad hoc quartets willing to deliver Valentine Grams on Saturday, Feb. 11, Valentine Grams will be delivered only on Tuesday, Feb. 14 Virginia is heading up the Nominating Committee for our new Team in May. Even though the actual Team has only five elected members, there are three appointed positions. There will be jobs for everyone. Please review the handout before March. Visual qualification will be on March 7. Practice your expressions and be the awesome star you are! John Mininger - Donna’s husband WEEKLY 50/50 GAME Congratulations to Jan Sloan Winning $26.00

Patt had her last chemo treatment for her basal cell carcinoma, and everything looks good. Good news, indeed!

Jay Sturm traveled to Missouri for his father’s funeral. Even though it was for a sad occasion, the good news is Jay was able to reconnect with family he hasn’t seen in a long time. More good news is he started his new job!
