The MACS 8.0 HVAC system enables flexible integration by arranging the modules in accordance with
the individual car design and the required cooling power demand. The module can also be used for
controlling the driver’s cab climate.

Multiple cycle redundancy ensures maximum availability. The system can continue to partially function
even if one module shuts down. This ensures that unplanned downtime is kept to an absolute
minimum.

Plug & Play Modules Enable Off Car Repair Concept
replacement of single module
exchange time 30 minutes
easy handling due to low weight
Individual modules can be easily replaced for
“off-car” repair. This optimizes maintenance
schedules and simplifies spare parts inventory
management.

The application of MACS 8.0 modules enables the significant reduction of development time and related
costs for each new vehicle integration. This additionally minimizes project and development risks.
Time to Market Reduction

Cost Efficient Operation
• “ready to use” products for customers
• extreme standardization (cab=saloon module)
• continuous product upgrades
(e.g. no extra NRCs for fire and smoke upgrades)
development costs
• significantly reduced weightweight related costs
• partial load operation or shut-off of modulespower consumption
• easy spares management
• off-car repair conceptmaintenance
• high availability of system function
• less unscheduled maintenancetrain down-times
less
Total Cost of Ownership is typically 10 % lower than that of a comparable HVAC system.

small cycle CO2 concept is easy to maintain and safe in operation
Liebherr is developing CO2-cooled modules with identical interfaces. The modular architecture of MACS
8.0 enables a small-cycle CO2 concept, which is easy to maintain and safe in operation.
• easy to maintain
• (off-car/off-site repair concept possible)
• small circuit CO2 leakage case is
not safety critical
• hardly to maintain
• unsafe to operate in case of
CO2 leakage
