President’s Message
Dear Centro Ladies,
We are a few months into the rotary year. Today marks the governor’s visit and induction, one of the event high-lights of a club for the year. As we start our Rotarian Year with our new set of officers, I hope that we all be reminded that not only leaders, but all members as well, are im-portant in the achievement of our goals and objectives of being a true ROTARIAN. Just like what Mother Teresa said, "It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving".
Preparations are on the way for several projects and every-body’s participation is needed to make these projects a suc-cess. As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way -- that is truly Rotary Serving Humanity.
Yours in Rotary,
All Star President

Editorial
What does it mean to be a Rotarian?
When I joined the Rotary Club of Sta. Rosa Centro three years ago, I didn’t
even do preliminary research on what it is or what it stands for. I joined simp-
ly because of a friend’s prodding.
So now I know that it is about “service above self”. After 3 years into the
organization, I asked myself, have I learned the ways of being a rotarian? It
is the sort of question a Rotarian should ask.
My answer to the question on whether I have lived the motto of “service
above self” would not have been a resounding Yes, but a tentative one as I
have not done anything huge for the community. There are a few things I
did to help but honestly, these are things which I might not have never ac-
complished alone.
But putting the motto into a different perspective, it could also mean main-
taining high ethical standards in one’s business, one’s profession, and in
one’s personal life. That I can answer with a resounding Yes, I did. If this
was the only criteria for being a good rotarian, then I can readily say that
being a rotarian is my way of life.
Being a Rotarian also means having the opportunity to experience the warm
fellowship of a Rotary Club and I have experienced that too. An introvert like
me would have found this difficult but I have a few times, joined fellowships.
Three years is probably too short to make a conclusion on how effective one
has been as a rotarian, for my case at least. At the end of the day, what
matters is to enjoy and benefit from all that Rotary has to offer.
On being a Rotarian

Reflections
“Our success or failure will not depend upon the
machinery of Rotary or its physical growth, but
upon the extent to which Rotary’s ideals or
objectives are translated into positive, tangible
results in personal, business, community, and
international life. We shall be known by our
works.” — The Second Quarter Century, THE
