BiographyA passion for creating unique and authentic music defines each of the five members of The Centralia Mine Fire. The result is a

brand of indie-rock entirely their own.

Established in 2009, TCMF immediately began writing what was to become their debut EP. These intensive writing sessions

resulted in a collection of music that rejects traditional music genres entirely. Instead, the band chose to define themselves only

by what they collectively thought was musically compelling. Band members are optimistic their success leading up to the EP

release continues, and the creative community will continue to enjoy their fresh outlook and music.

The Centralia Mine Fire EP was recorded over a period of ten months at Music Creek Studios in St. Louis, Missouri. KyleKrupinski both engineered and produced the album. The many hours and long nights developed into a record Krupinski refers

to as, The album Im most proud to have worked on to date.

Listeners will be taken through a myriad of musical and lyrical styles throughout the EP. The story subtly interwoven into the

songs gives the album cohesiveness and allows listeners to feel as though they are a part of the characters search for wisdom.

Pianist and lead vocalist, T.J. Syndram, said, We hope people immerse themselves in a similar search for authenticity and

    truth.

The EP will be released April 29, 2011, at The Castle Theatre in Bloomington. The EP will also be available on iTunes and at anumber of Central Illinois retailers including Waiting Room Records in Normal and Co-op Records.

The EP release show will showcase guest musicians in an experience unlike anything TCMF has ever attempted. Singer and

pianist T.J. Syndram commented on the upcoming concert, Were all really excited about what we have been able to put

together for this show. It has been a lot of work, but we are confident it will pay off for every person there to see it.

The release of their debut EP, summer tour dates, ambitious music video projects, and a commitment to their original vision of

making compelling music, promise to make 2011 a good year for The Centralia Mine Fire fans.

Press Release (Cont.) The self titled EP will be the first album released by TCMF, but they have already made an impact on the Central Illinois music

scene. Established in 2009, the five piece band draws musical inspiration from a diversity of experiences shared by members. This

has resulted in a passionate brand of indie-rock that is entirely their own.

TCMF last played The Castle Theatre in December when they opened for international touring artist Tokyo Police Club.

They have since played a number of venues in both Bloomington and Normal, including the Bone Student Center at Illinois State

University and the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Metavari is an instrumental band out of Fort Wayne, Ind. They are currently signed to Crossroads of America Records.

Metavari combines multimedia sources to immerse concertgoers.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.thecastletheatre.com. The

show is open to all ages. Balcony seating will be available for patrons over 21. The Castle Theatre is located at 209 E. Washington

    St. Bloomington, IL. 61701.

The Centralia Mine Fire - EP will be available to purchase for $5 at The Castle Theatre in Bloomington, Waiting Room

Records in Normal, and digitally on iTunes.

In a darkened church in the middle of the night, I experienced something mystifyingly powerful. Through closed doors in a

Peoria Methodist church, melodious sounds escaped and enveloped the parking lot.I felt as if I was embarking on an underground, private session of the band Brand New. To the members of the five-manband The Centralia Mine Fire, this was just another practice. To bass player and junior interactive media major RyanMurphy, this is the highlight of his week.

In addition to Ryan, the independent band is composed of two Illinois State students, piano player and main vocalist TJSyndram and guitarist Jeremy Grusy, as well as two ICC students, drummer Matt Taylor and guitarist Josiah Rosenberger.

The five combine to form an ensemble that is entirely unique, yet take influences from artists like Explosions in the Skyand La Dispute.

But these guys didnt always have this same sound, or even the same name. Formerly Dressing Up Letters, the banddecided to make the transition from a piano-pop, younger sound to a mature, meaningful one that now defines the group.

This reinvention came with a seemingly obscure name change. The band came up with the new name when theystumbled upon a YouTube video for the town of Centralia, Penn. that has become famous for an ongoing fire in theunderground coal mines. It has been said that there is enough fuel in the mines to keep the fire burning for 1,000 years.

The band played its last show as Dressing Up Letters in April 2009 in Ohio and has since been known as The CentraliaMine Fire.

Press CoverageThe Centralia Mine Fire has been featured in a number of local and student

Since the bands inception in 2009, they have played about 30 shows throughout the Midwest. The group is also wrappingup work on an EP they recorded at Music Creek Studios in St. Louis.

As the group can attest to, it takes a lot of work to put together an EP, especially for five college students who have busyschedules to begin with. The group spent about a week recording the four song EP, which revolves around the search forwisdom.

The band focuses their message around their deeply-rooted Christian beliefs which help to hold their music together.

However, this Christian belief seems to be one of the only strings tying the members together as they are extremelydiverse in most other ways.

They listen to all different types of music, which can make collaborating on their own a challenge. But according to them, this diversity makes them unique, and in the music business, being able to stand out is incredibly important.

Syndrams lyrics tell a story the listener is left to interpret, as many of the lines have around 16 different meanings, according to Syndram. To him, lyrics are about poetry and they must act as that.

The last line of the last track, which has remained untitled, says My soul waits for the lord more than watchmen for themorning. This statement really embodies the message and purpose of the band, which is the message they wish toimpart on their fans.

Murphy has worked to promote this message and the band itself and has acquired the title of social media genius. Hemaintains the bands Facebook page, as well as a Twitter account and many other applications.

Sitting in that dark church, listening to music played in its most raw and passionate form, I felt more emotion and heartcoming from these guys than I have at most concerts.

    Testimonials

As a promoter, you see many great local bands start up and fade out without much notice. The Centralia Mine Fire, however, is no such band. Their passion for what they do is evident in their music and in the attitudes of the musiciansthemselves. I was always eager to book TCMF, not only because their music is great or because they have a big localdraw, but also because the band had respect for the venue and the other bands on the shows. The Centralia Mine Firesdedication to making outstanding music is carried into their live shows, giving you an experience you wont be forgettinganytime soon.

Sarah Trost - Promoter, The Bean Coffeehouse

I was instantly attracted to working with the guys from TCMF, their passion and creative drive and their undeniable talenthas made working with them over the past year a real treat.

Kyle Krupinski - Producer / Engineer / Mixer

I first heard about The Centralia Mine Fire when people suggested they open our Tokyo Police Club show in December. We decided to give them a chance, and they did a fantastic job! Were excited to have them back to headline The CastleTheatre. Opening our stage to great local musicians is something were always striving to do, and, from what I haveheard, the TCMF EP release show will be a unique and exciting concert for everyone involved.
