Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits. It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory. Twenty five years ago, Saddleback Church in Southern California launched Celebrate Recovery with forty three people. It was designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process. Celebrate Recovery has helped more than 17,000 people through Saddleback Church, which has attracted over 70% of its members from outside the church. Eighty-five percent of the people who go through the program stay with the church and nearly half serve as church volunteers. Celebrate Recovery is now in over 29,000 churches worldwide! As a part of this program beginning on Sunday, July 2, I will be preaching the 8 part series The Road to Recovery that Pastor Rick Warren used to launch Saddleback's Celebrate Recovery Ministry. Celebrate Recovery today encourages and calls for each church that begins a Celebrate Recovery group to participate in this series which sets the table for the congregation. The purpose of the series is to teach the congregation how to overcome the hurts, habits, and hang ups that cause pain in their lives. These steps to recovery are found in the Bible. The Road to Recovery sermon series includes these 8 steps for us all: The First Step to Freedom Where to Get Help When You Hurt Letting Go Coming Clean Making Changes Repairing Relationships Maintaining Momentum Recycling My Pain See you in Church, Pastor Craig

Stitches of Joy - Sewing Ministry

The Chicken Dinner will be on Saturday, September 30th this year. To make this another successful event we will need you to volunteer. Sign up sheets will be put out in the end of July. We will need people to help set up, help prepare and serve the food, tear down and make the yummy desserts, etc. So there is a place for everyone to help out and serve the Lord. Proceeds will go to our missions we support.

As Christians I believe we ought to be doing what we can to alleviate the misery of those less fortunate than ourselves and help others. As I was growing up, I was absorbed in the gift my mother gave me: “sewing and quilting”. As I have matured, I am trying to be an “others centered” individual. So this began the ministry of ‘STITCHES OF JOY’. If you would like to join us, we meet the first Thursday of each month at my house at 4204 Westcart Lane. If you have any questions, please call me at 523-1143. Please bring sewing machine, extra sewing machine needles, neutral colored thread, extra bobbins, straight pins, and a sack lunch. Linda Burgener

Pairs and Spares is Starting. Our fir st event/outing is the Muni Production of Grease on August 12th. Kristy Cole, Carmen and Nick Arnberger are in the show. We are planning a picnic at the Muni Picnic grounds before the performance. We will meet at the church and transportation will be provided to the muni. Tickets will be either general or reserved seating. See the bulletins and announcements for further information.

Fall Sunday School Kick Off celebration and breakfast will be on Sunday, August 27th. More information to come. You don’t have to wait until August 27th to come to Sunday School. We have classes for all ages from Preschool to Adults that start at 9:30 am. There are several adult classes. Nursery is also provided during Sunday School.

We now have Travel Mugs with red slip grips that have the Church name and address printed on them They are $10 each. Please see one of the Evangelism Team members if you are interested in purchasing one.

We have had a great start to Camp Sonshine! The kids and the staff have been busy learn-ing about and spreading the word of God. It has been amazing to see God's work in everyone here--the kids, the staff, and all those extra hands that go into making Camp run smoothly. Our theme for Camp is "Crayons: Color Your Summer with God's Love", and we have been learning about the story of David. God has a plan for everyone, even when they're small, just like God had a plan for David to become a King. In July and August, we will continue learning about David and his life. We will hear the following stories of: David and Jonathan, David becoming a King, David and Mephibosheth, David planning the temple, Nathan rebuking David, and David's charge to Solomon. Please continue to pray for our staff and kids as we continue the summer at Camp Sonshine. Devan Pfeiffer Camp Sonshine Director
