Anglicanorum Coetibus

10th Anniversary

Next November 2019, marks the 10th Anniversary of the publication of the Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum

Coetibus. The Holy See has asked the Ordinariates to join in celebrating the ecumenical vision of diversity in unity of

Pope Benedict XVI. To that end, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith will host a symposium on the Ordinari-ates along with special Masses, receptions, and gatherings. We will be holding an informational meeting November 8,

2018 at 6:00 pm in the Chancery Great Hall (and snacks will be provided). If you have an interest and are looking to find out more information about traveling to Rome, you need to attend this meeting. A land package deal will be present-ed along with thoughts on potential add-ons to the trip. All Ordinariate clergy, faithful, and supporters are welcome to

join in the festivities. If you will be unable to attend the meeting but would like to receive more information, please con-tact Deacon Mark Stockstill at 713-683-9407 or [email protected].

The Collect V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

Let us pray. O God, our refuge and strength, who art the author of all godliness: be ready, we beseech thee, to hear the devout prayers of thy Church; and grant that those things which we ask faithfully we may obtain effectually; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Introit Dicit Dominus Jeremiah 29:11,12,14; Psalm 85:1 Thus saith the Lord, I know the thoughts that I think towards you, thoughts of peace, and not of affliction: ye shall call upon me, and I will hearken unto you, and will bring again your captivity from every nation.

(Ps.) Lord, thou art become gracious unto thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob. (Bow) Glory be to the Father… (Rise) As it was in the beginning… Thus saith the Lord…

The Lesson: Deuteronomy 6:2-6 Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Fear the LORD your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes

and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life; that your days may be prolonged. Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them; that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD; and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart.” V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

Collect for Purity, Summary of the Law Missal, page 1 Kyrie (Willan) Hymn 710 Gloria (Willan) Hymn 713

The Epistle: Hebrews 7:23-28 Brethren, the priests [of the former covenant] were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in

office; but Christ holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues for ever. Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did this once for all when he offered up himself. Indeed, the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect for ever. V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

The Holy Gospel: St. Mark 12:28b-34 V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

V. + A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Mark. R. Glory be to thee, O Lord.

At that time, one of the scribes came up to Jesus and asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all

your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neigh-bor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that he is one, and there is no other but he; and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any question.

V. The Gospel of the Lord. R. Praise be to thee, O Christ.

Offertory Anthem: Ecce quam bonum Hans Leo Hassler (1564-1612) Ecce quam bonum et quam jucundum, habitare fratres in unum!

Sicut unguentum in capite, quod descendit in barbam, barbam Aaron, quod descendit in oram vestimenti ejus;

sicut ros Hermon, qui descendit in montem Sion. Quoniam illic mandavit Dominus benedictionem, et vitam usque in saeculum.

Behold, how good and joyful a thing it is: brethren, to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, that ran down unto the beard: even unto Aaron's beard,

and went down to the skirts of his clothing. Like as the dew of Hermon: which fell upon the hill of Sion.

For there the Lord promised his blessing: and life for evermore. ~ Psalm 133

Offertory Antiphon De profundis Psalm 130 Out of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord;

Lord, hear my voice.

An Act of Spiritual Communion for those who cannot now receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament

My Jesus, I believe that thou art truly present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love thee above all things, and I desire to receive thee into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace thee as if thou wert already there and unite myself wholly to thee. Never permit me to be separated from thee. Amen.

Communion Anthem: Beati quorum via Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924) Beati quorum via integra est, qui ambulant in lege Domini.

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
