Abstract. The catalogue presents Palaearctic Cerambycidae coleopteran species of the subfamiliesNecydalinae and Cerambycinae preserved in the collections of „Grigore Antipa” National Museum ofNatural History of Bucharest.

Resumé. Le catalogue présente les espèces de coléoptères paléartiques de Cerambycidae, sousfamillesNecydalinae et Cerambycinae gardés dans les collections du Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle„Grigore Antipa“ de Bucarest.

INTRODUCTION

The Cerambycidae collection preserved in “Grigore Antipa” NationalMuseum of Natural History from Bucureºti (Bucharest), consists of:

- material from the old coleopteran collection from the Palaearctic area(which gather specimens from Richard Canisius, Deszö Kenderessy, Eduard Fleck,Fridrich Deubel, Arnold Lucien Montandon, Emil Varady collections, acquiredbetween 1883 – 1923);

- lots of material from Dr. Nicolae Sãvulescu’s collection acquired between1961 – 1982 and material from the same collection, which were included in theMuseum patrimony in 1992, after Dr. Nicolae Sãvulescu’s death;

- specimens obtained by exchange with foreign specialists and collectors;- donations: Mihai ªerban Procheº, Viorel Ungureanu;- material collected in the field in Romania by the specialists of the “Grigore

Antipa” Museum and by their collaborators, during 1946 – 2008.- material collected from Morocco, Turkey, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Syria (Expeditions

of „Grigore Antipa” Museum in the Mediterranean countries), during 2005 – 2008.A large part of the information given by the specimens from the collections

was revaluated in by scientific papers.The first data on the material of the old collections, which now belong to the

Museum patrimony, were published by Fleck (1905), Montandon (1906, 1908).Panin and Sãvulescu (1961) published the material, collected till 1960, in the

fascicle of Romanian fauna.

A part of the data were published by Negru & Roºca (1967), Serafim (1985, 1997,1998, 2004), Serafim & Maican (2004, 2008), Ungureanu, Maican & Serafim (2008).

The collection catalogue was published in several steps:In the first part of the Catalogue of Cerambycidae species, data concerning 25

species of the subfamilies Prioninae (tribes Prionini and Aegosomatini) andLepturinae (tribes Oxymirini, Xylosteini, Rhamnusiini and Rhagiini) werepublished (Serafim, 2005).

In the second part, 53 Palaearctic species of the subfamily Lepturinae, tribeLepturini, are presented (Serafim, 2006).

In the third part, 10 Palaearctic species of the subfamily Spondylidinae (tribesAnisarthronini, Asemini, Saphanini, Spondydini) are presented.

In the fourth part of catalogue two Palaearctic Cerambycidae species of thesubfamily Necydalinae and 91 species of subfamily Cerambycinae are listed. Mostpart of the material (68 species) originates in Romania.

The species identification was made by Sergiu Panin1, Nicolae Sãvulescu2,ªtefan Negru3, Atena Roºca4, Rodica Serafim.

Nomenclature and systematical order are according to those used by Sama(2005) in “Fauna Europaea”, Danilevsky (2007) in “A check-list of LongicornBeetles (Coleoptera, Cerambycoidea) of Europe” and Hoskovec & Rejzek (2009) in“Longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) of the West Palaearctic region”.

DISCUSSIONS

The specimens of the acquired collections at the end of the 19th century andthe beginning of the 20th are preserved for their historical value, although not all ofthem have collecting data. The specimens of Deszö Kenderessy collection, anamateur entomologist from Transylvania, were collected at the end of the 19thcentury from Haþeg Depression. The collection material of the amateur entomologistEduard Fleck, acquired in 1914, was collected especially from the BucegiMountains, most of them from Azuga. A large number of the specimens of theFridrich Deubel collection (amateur entomologist from Braºov), acquired in 1923,originates in the surroundings of Braºov. Arnold Lucien Montandon collectionconsists of coleopterans collected at the end of the 19th century and the beginning ofthe 20th one, from the royal estate of Broºteni, the Carpathian Mountains (SuceavaCounty), Comana Forest (Giurgiu County) and Dobrogea.

The species of Romanian fauna represent 90.66 % in collections.Pronocera angusta, a rare species, is distributed in Central and South-East

Europe, Russia. From Romania, it was reported from Bãile Herculane, Baia-de-Criº,Borsec, Tuºnad, Târgu Secuiesc, Câmpulung Moldovenesc (Panin & Sãvulescu, 1961).

Ropalopus ungaricus is a rare and endangered mountainous Europeanspecies. From Romania, it was reported from Cluj (Petri, 1912). In Eduard Fleck’scollection one specimen is preserved, collected from Azuga (Bucegi Mountains).

Semanotus russicus is distributed in South-East and Central Europe, NorthAfrica, Near East, Transcaucasia. From Romania, it was reported from CâmpulungMoldovenesc, Lovrin (Panin & Sãvulescu, op.cit.), Bãile Herculane, Domogled Mt.(Kovacs and col., 1998-1999). In the collections of “Grigore Antipa” Museum thereis one specimen collected from Vaidacuta.

From Romania, Semanotus undatus was reported from Broºteni (Montandon,1906), Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Sighiºoara, Braºov (Panin & Sãvulescu, op. cit.).In collections, there are three specimens, collected from Cindrel Mountains,Pãltiniº, in April 1950 (unpublished data). The species occurs in Europe, EastPalaearctic, Oriental region.

Cerambyx cerdo is the single species of the genus Cerambyx with protectionstatus in Romania and Europe. In Romania, Cerambyx cerdo coexists with C.scopolii, C. miles, C. nodulosus and C. welensii.

From Romania, Cerambyx miles was reported from Bãile Herculane,Cleanov, Apold, Sibiu, Piteºti (Panin & Sãvulescu, op.cit.), Comana Forest, PasãreaForest (Serafim, 1985), Racoviþa, Bucovãþ, Leamna (Serafim, Chimiºliu & Lila,2004). It occurs in South, Central and East Europe, Near East, the Caucasus,Transcaucasus.

Cerambyx welensii occurs in South, Central and East Europe, Near East, theCaucasus, North Africa. From Romania, it is reported from Bãile Herculane, Ineu(Panin & Sãvulescu, op. cit.), Oglãnic Valley (Ruicãnescu, 1992), Bucovãþ, Leamna(Serafim, Chimiºliu & Lila, 2004). In the collections of „Grigore Antipa” Museumthere is material collected from Gura Vãii, Balota, Canaraua Fetii (unpublished data).

Cerambyx nodulosus is distributed in South-East Europe and Near East. InRomania, only in Banat: Bãile Herculane and Cireºu.

Lampropterus femoratus, a rare species in Romania, occurs in Albania, Bulgaria,Cyprus, European Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, Near East.

Clytus tropicus and Cyrtoclytus capra are rare species in Romania.From Romania the species Xylotrechus pantherinus is reported only from

Tuºnad (Tasnád) (Petri, 1925-1926), from Pojoga and Buhaz sand level, the DanubeDelta (Panin & Sãvulescu, op.cit.).

In Romania Plagionotus bobelayei is reported only from the Danube Delta.It occurs in Canary Is., Balkan Peninsula, Ukraine, Crimeea, South Russia, NearEast.

Chlorophorus hungaricus has been cited by Montandon (1906) fromComana. The species occurs in Central Europe, the Balkan Peninsula, Near East. Inthe collection there are specimens collected at Plãineºti.

Chlorophorus trifasciatus occurs in South, South-East and Central Europe,North Africa, Near East. In the collection of „Grigore Antipa” National Museum ofNatural History, there are specimens collected from France, Italy, Romania (Banat,Comana Forest, Vidra).

Calchaenesthes oblongomaculatus occurs in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, NearEast. In the collection there are two specimens from Esechioi Forest (SouthernDobrogea).

Asias halodendri was recorded by Panin & Sãvulescu (op. cit.) as Asiasephippium (based on the single specimen collected from Mihai Bravu Forest,Giurgiu County). Now, Asias ephippium is considered a subspecies of Asiashalodendri. Asias halodendri ephippium has been found in Albania, Bulgaria, SouthEuropean Russia, European Kazakhstan, Ukraine (Danilevsky, 2007).

Until now, in Romania, Nathrius brevipennis is known only from Sibiu(Panin & Sãvulescu, op. cit.) and Bucureºti (Serafim, 1985). The species isconsidered cosmopolitan, being introduced with wooden wrapping in China, NorthAmerica and South America. Probably, it reached Romania by the same way.

Purpuricenus desfontainii desfontainii occurs in North Africa, Crete, Greece.Purpuricenus dalmatinus occurs in the Balkan Peninsula, Turkey, Syria.

Brachypteroma ottomanum occurs in the Balkan Peninsula, Italy, Sicily, NearEast. The presence of this species in the Romanian fauna is not excluded. In theKenderessy’s collection there is one specimen, but without collecting data.

Semanotus laurasii occurs in Corsica, France, Sardinia, Spain, North Africa.In the collections of “Grigore Antipa” Museum, there is one specimen, collectedfrom Algeria.

Chlorophorus ruficornis is an endemic species of Spain and France.Chlorophorus aegyptiacus occurs in Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Crete, Near East.

Chlorophorus pilosus, West-Palaearctic species, occurs in Balearic Is.,Canary Is., France, Portugal, Sardinia, Spain, North Africa.

Neoclytus acuminatus is a native species to North America and, in the lastcentury, it was introduced in Europe, in infested ash timber. The species occurs in


South France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia. Neoclytusacuminatus was firstly recorded by Manci (2005) from Romania. In collections, thisspecies is represented by the material from Croatia and Italy.

Icosium tomentosum atticum is mainly an East-Mediterranean subspeciesoccuring in Turkey, Balcan Peninsula and reaching South France in the West.

Callimus abdominalis (Olivier, 1795) occurs in South Europe (Croatia,France, Greece, Italy, Sardinia, Sicily, Spain).

Aromia moschata ambrosiaca occurs in South and South-East Europe, NearEast, the Caucasus, Iran.

Stenopterus rufus syriacus is distributed from South-West Turkey to Syriaand Israel (Özdikmen & Okutaner, 2006).

In the Museum collections there are the following East-Palaearctic species:Chloridolum japonicum, Ch. viride, Poecilium maacki, Dere thoracica, Chlorophorusquinquefasciatus, Cyrtoclytus caproides, Paraclytus excultus, Plagionotus christophi,Xylotrechus cuneipennis, Purpuricenus spectabilis collected in Japan and included incollection by a material exchange with the Japanese specialists.

Paraclytus excultus is an endemic species of Japan.Chloridolum japonicum occurs in Japan and Korea; Chloridolum viride in

Russia (South of Sakhalin, Kuril Islands), Japan, Korea, Eastern China; Derethoracica in Japan, Korea, China, Laos; Poecilium maacki in China, Japan, Korea;Chlorophorus quinquefasciatus in China, Japan, Korea, Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan.

Cyrtoclytus caproides caproides, Plagionotus christophi and Xylotrechuscuneipennis occur in Russia (Asian part), Japan, China.

CATALOGUL SPECIILOR PALEARCTICE DE NECYDALINAE ªI CERAMBYCINAE(COLEOPTERA: CERAMBYCIDAE) DIN PATRIMONIUL MUZEULUI NAÞIONAL

DE ISTORIE NATURALÃ „GRIGORE ANTIPA” (BUCUREªTI)(Partea a IV-a)

REZUMAT

Catalogul cuprinde datele referitoare la 93 de specii palearctice de coleoptere Cerambycidaedin subfamiliile Necydalinae (2 specii) ºi Cerambycinae (91 specii), pãstrate în colecþiile MuzeuluiNaþional de Istorie Naturalã „Grigore Antipa” (Bucureºti).

Dintre cele 75 specii de Cerambicinae, citate din fauna României, în colecþiile Muzeului suntprezente 68 de specii. Dintre acestea se remarcã speciile Pronocera angusta, Ropalopus ungaricus,Semanotus russicus, S. undatus, Cerambyx miles, C. welensii, C. nodulosus, Lampropterus femoratus,Clytus tropicus, Cyrtoclytus capra, Xylotrechus pantherinus, Plagionotus bobelayei, Chlorophorustrifasciatus, Calchenesthes oblongomaculatus, Asias halodendri ephippium, Nathrius brevipennis.

Purpuricenus desfontainii, Brachypteroma ottomanum, Semanotus laurasii, Icosiumtomentosum, Callimus abdominalis sunt specii mediteraneene.

Dintre speciile vest-palearctice amintim: Chlorophorus pilosus ºi Chlorophorus ruficornis(specie endemicã pentru Franþa ºi Spania).

În colecþiile Muzeului se pãstreazã material provenind din Japonia, aparþinând urmãtoarelorspecii est-palearctice: Chloridolum japonicum, Ch. viride, Poecilium maacki, Dere thoracica,Chlorophorus quinquefasciatus, Cyrtoclytus caproides, Paraclytus excultus, Plagionotus christophi,Xylotrechus cuneipennis, Purpuricenus spectabilis.

Paraclytus excultus este o specie endemicã pentru Japonia.
