One of our governors, Margaret Horton, taught the teachers the basics of watercolour painting at our

Wednesday staff meeting this week. Margaret, who has been selling her paintings of landscapes in exhi-

bitions for a number of years gave us a few exercises to build our confidence before getting us to paint a

landscape from a photo. There was a relaxed, focused atmosphere in the room while we absorbed our-

selves in our task. The teachers will be passing on their new found skills to their class next term and a

huge thanks to Margaret for the lesson!

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a great week we’ve had here!

The nativity on Wednesday was a terrific success and the Trinity Church was packed to the rafters with parents, carers and family. The dancing and singing was of a high standard and it clearly told the nativity story. It is always special to have our festive celebrations at the Trinity Church and we are grateful for all their support and preparation.

Also on Wednesday, there was a sea of red and green as the staff and children donned their Christmas jumpers or bright non-school uniform to wear to the Christmas dinner. We decided as a team to be more ecologically aware so had chocolate coins instead of crackers (the tin foil will be used creatively in Nursery). We also didn’t use wrapping paper for a table cloth to avoid micro-plastics going into our water cycle. You may have noticed that Father Christmas gave out his presents in brown paper, he is very on board with saving the environment too!

There was a lovely article in the local papers this week about our school. It was in the Oxford Mail and the Abingdon Herald and was about our successful Ofsted re-port. I was quoted a couple of times (I am basically a celebrity now…) but wanted to add that the school and all the staff work hard to maintain the standards we set ourselves; it’s not me that makes the school it’s the team and their effort, ideas, dedication, time and passion.

We rounded off this week with a special afternoon assembly with iRock, a club that runs every Friday. They teach bass, drums, keyboards and guitar and we had the pleasure of seeing four bands perform for us. The hall was packed with family and the classes and after each song there was rapturous applause. It’s not easy standing up in front of so many people to perform and I’m re-ally proud of each and every band member who was brave enough to do so. Look out for some action shots of the per-formers in next week’s issue.

Next week is our last week of term, so let me remind you we will be breaking up at 1.15 pm on Thursday. We hope to see you at our KS2 Carol Concert on Thursday at 9.30am in the Trinity Church. KS2 have been practicing hard and are sounding great!

That’s all from me,

Have a restful weekend.
