The camparison between two sisters
• This passage is written in the vision of “a mom”, and she described her two daughters : Dee and Maggie. The writer wrote it very vividly and the words she used are extremely exact. As I read it, it just is like a picture appeared in front of me. But I don’t want to make a comment on it from a literary or political view. I would like to make a comparison between the two girls.
1 The appearance
Dee Maggie
Lighter
Nicer hair
Fuller figure
Homely
Burn scars
thin
It can be easily found that Dee is more beautiful than Maggie.Maybe because of this,Maggie always feels nervous, uneasy and inferior before her sister.
2 The character
Dee Maggie
Hesitation was no part of her nature ; she would always look everyone in the eye
Stand hopelessly
Chin on chest
Eyes on ground
Feet in shuffle
trembling
From the above words, we can summarize that Dee is confident and has a style of her own; While Maggie is timid( 胆小的) and doesn’t have her own thought.
3 The moral character (品性) Dee Maggie
A loud dress
Earrings gold
Bracelets
polarold
Pink skirt
Red blouse
The name of Wangero
Benches,churn,dasher,quilts
Wash dishes after dinner
Maggie can’t appreciate these quilts, she’d probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use.
She can have them
furiously Wasn’t mad at Dee
It’s no doubt that Dee is vain (虚荣) , greedy, bad-tempered and egomaniacal / i:ɡəumə’naiəkəl / (极
端利己的), and most important, she looks down upon her mother and sister, and doesn’t respect them. But how is Maggie? Though timid, she is good-tempered, diligent (勤奋的), plain (简朴的) ,and kind-hearted. She is smaller than Dee, while she also wants to give the quilts to her elder sister.
• But at the same time, we have to admit that Maggie is weak( 懦弱的 ). She doesn’t know how to strive for( 争取 ) what she wanted. When facing difficulties, she just yields( 让步 ) again and again. Maybe the quilts were the first thing she got for herself, so she can have a real smile.
• What can we learn from them? I think we should learn to be confident and brave to strive for our happiness from Dee. And more important, we should also keep a kind heart, don’t lose our directions in this busy world.
• At last, may everyone can get your
