5 HEALTHY TIPS TO FOLLOWTHIS THANKSGIVING

1) EXERCISE BEFORE / AFTER YOU EAT: Exercise lowers levels of ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates appetite in the short term, while raising levels of peptide YY, a hormone that suppresses appetite. Doing a walk, run, or high intensity workout an hour or two before sitting down for your Thanksgiving meal is a great idea. Exercising after you eat is also a great idea because you’ll have this in the back of your mind while you’re eating. If you overindulge, you’ll more than likely pay the price later.

2) EAT BEFORE YOU “EAT”: Don’t skip breakfast if you’re having a lunch time Thanksgiving meal and don’t skip lunch if you’re having a dinner time Thanksgiving meal. This will make you more hungry, and the temptation to over indulge will be much higher than if you have already satiated your appetite earlier in the day.

3) PICK SMARTER OPTIONS: Choose white meat instead of dark. Eat your greens. Choose a roll with a dab of butter instead of a heaping dose of dressing. Eat a smaller slice of pie. (because you still need to have some pie!) Being conscientious of what you’re putting into your body is half the battle. Don’t just grab it and put it onto your plate. You can do it! Make the smart choices.

4) JUST HAVE ONE PIECE OF PIE (OR DESSERT OF YOUR CHOICE): On average, one piece of pie equals around 250-300 calories. If you’re anything like me, it’s not uncommon to have multiple pieces on Thanksgiving. This can add up quickly. Cut it out! Limit yourself to one dessert and don’t go back for more. This will pay off and it’s going to make you feel much better.

5) HYDRATE BEFORE YOU EAT: Don’t wait to drink H2o until it’s too late! Thirst can easily be mistaken for hunger. This can make your body feel the need to consume more calories than it should when in reality, hydration – not eating – is the answer. Aim to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water prior to eating in order to stay hydrated and curb hunger naturally without any extra calories.

Simple. Practical. Tough to apply when we see all the delicious food laid out in front of us. Remember, you are in charge of what you put into our body. You can do it and these 5 tips can help! Give them a try before, during, or after your big meal. Best wishes to you and yours during this Thanksgiving Holiday!

Nienhiser Crowned MOWA ChampionThough he didn’t have the weekend he hoped for on his home track, Paul Nienhiser was still able to celebrate as he was officially crowned the 2019 MOWA Champion over the weekend at Jacksonville Speedway.

“We were just a little off,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We clinched the title just by drawing a pill on Friday so I didn’t have to race cautious or force any issues that I didn’t need to.”

Friday night a total of 38 cars checked into the pit area and the Chapin, IL driver would draw the front row of a very stacked heat race. After getting into the lead, Nienhiser would encounter traffic in the closing laps which would equate to a near miss that saw him drop two positions and finish third.

Giving up valuable points, Nienhiser was able to make the feature where he took the green flag from the 15th starting position. On a track that was pretty dominant around the top, Nienhiser would pick up what he could as he made a point not to get overly aggressive while running mid pack.

Able to gain a few spots, Nienhiser capped the night with a 10th place finish aboard the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design backed entry.

Following Saturday afternoon showers, 32 cars would show up for the MOWA finale, and Nienhiser would draw the second row for his heat race. With those previously mentioned showers, the track crews did a great job of getting the track ready but it was still a hammer down surface, that didn’t see much passing early as Nienhiser finished fourth in his heat.

For the second consecutive night, he would again just sneak into the feature event as he would be 15th in points after heats and roll off the starting grid from the inside of the eighth row.

With the track still fast in the feature, Nienhiser would actually avoid some chaos and again sneak his way up to 10th when the madness drew to a close.

“It was definitely really cool to win my first championship at my home track in front of so many friends, fans, and partners who help us out so much,” Nienhiser said. “It was a great MOWA season for us, with the exception of these last two shows, I really feel like we were in contention to win every night, and that is a testament to this team we have put together.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
