Transcript of The Buzz: July 2013
How do you plan to keep serving even when school is no
longer in session?
Now that it’s July,
summer is in full swing. For
most of us, that means Key
Club is pretty much over
until the next school year
starts. While everything slows
down during summer, it does
not mean that Key Club is
over.
There will still be DCMs
throughout the summer to
help the hive bond and
prepare for the new year. In
addition, the Seattle Rally
will be in a month! Seattle
Rally is a great time to
prepare for the new year,
meet Key Clubbers from all
over the Seattle area and
more, and renew your
passion for service.
Officers, even if your
clubs are not having any
events over the summer,
consider having meetings to
plan out the year. Plan
ahead and start the next
year off strong.
DIvision 21’s goals this year are to have all 13 clubs in their area have active status,
expand membership in the division, fundraise and increase awareness of Key Club
International and the Pacific Northwest District’s goals and projects, and have extensive
communication between all clubs regardless of distance.
However, our biggest goals are those stated by Key Club International:
To provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

Introducing….
Divisional Executive Assistant
Hey Key Clubbers! For those of you who
don't already know me, I'm Selina Nguyen! I
will be a junior this upcoming school year
and I go to Lynnwood High School. It is a
privilege to be able to serve on the Divisional
Board as Divisional Executive Assistant! I am
eager to work alongside the other members
of the board as well as further developing
my leadership skills. The goals that I plan to
achieve throughout my term in this position is
to better assist Chester with the tasks that
need to be done, to encourage clubs both
active and inactive to strive for a closer
relationship with the division and to promote
and apply the Key Club core values and
motto to the division! Key Club has made
such an impact on my life this past year and
I hope it does the same to everyone a part
of it. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a
wonderful family consisting of genuine and
passionate individuals. It's an amazing
organization that teaches you that you don't
have to do something big in order to make
a difference, it's the little things you do for
others that can change their life. Key Club...
It's life changing. So whether it's the need for
new ideas, organizing, feedback or anything
else, I'm all ears and am ready to serve
Division 21, the best division out there.

The New Divisional
Divisional Secretary
Hi, Bumblebees! I’m Jinha, your new
Divisional Secretary. I’m so glad to work
with you guys for this Key Club year! I love
how Bumblebees are building strong
bonds with each other and making Division
21 amazing, and I want to strengthen and
brighten our Division even more. First of all, I
will facilitate Divisional communication by
contacting Division officers and members
as much as possible. Also, facilitating
communication, I will encourage Key
Clubbers to learn about our Division,
District, K-family, DCON, and a lot of other
things about Key Club: I think, as a Key
Clubber, it’s important to know about the
great and fantabulous club to which he or
she belongs. Moreover, I want to inform
the detailed secretary’s duties to our
secretaries, so they can work successfully.
Lastly, I will efficiently keep track of
Divisional data and be prepared for
questions, so I can be a helpful secretary. I
will always be a passionate, resourceful,
and approachable Divisional Secretary!
Key Club is truly an indispensable part of
my life, so I'm overjoyed to serve my
beloved Bumblebees and fantabulous Key
Club! Thank you, and hope to see you at
future DCM’s!

Divisional Editor/Webmaster
Victor Mach
Lynnwood High School
Hello there my bee-ple (get it? People? Good
one, huh?) of Key Club! My name for those who
don’t know me, is Victor Mach. At the nosey, I am
a portrayer in the arts known as League of
Legends (yes, I League) and am an incoming
junior for the advancing year here at Lynnwood
High School. Let me start off just expressing the
apprehensions of excitement I am currently
feeling towards my position in the Divisional
Board. It is a prerogative to be serving as the
Divisional Editor/Webmaster (no, not Spiderman),
and I am formidably excited to show this
enthusiasm through the goals in which I plan to
achieve throughout my term. What I plan to do is
create a social bond through the inter-webs with
existent members of Key Club, innovating the
way in which friends can bond with another
through website activities and games, which I
can work on with other members to either
promote enlistment within our valued Key Club or
to just promote spirit and enthusiasm to already
existing members. By doing so, I believe, it would
encourage students to apply those fundamental
originalities to their own lives, as well as to their
fellow members to stimulate the “image” (see
that? Photography pun intended) of
acceptance and family. It doesn’t stop there, my
fellow Clubbers: I as well plan to create
videos/documentaries of students as a way to
reward their dedication and adherence to the
Club and as a way to bind us further together as
a hive. All in all, my ultimate goal for all of us is to
have fun (cliché, I know); because in the end,
what is there to Key Club without the fun?
What will DIVISION 21 do?
ELIMATE is the District Project this year so we will definitely participate!
Stay tuned to find out what Division 21 will do this year to ELIMINATE MNT!
The Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program, KCCP, in support of Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s
Cancer Program in Portland OR., Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in Seattle WA., and the
Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in British Columbia and the Yukon, will raise money and
awareness to fight and find the cure for children’s cancer.
The KCCP was founded by Past PNW Kiwanis Governor Frank Morehouse in 2010. His inspiration
was a young cancer patient named Penny. Morehouse worked at the hospital where Penny
stayed. Penny was diagnosed with a brain tumor and required surgery and radiation therapy.
Penny visited Morehouse during her hospital stays and talked about what was happening to her.
Sadly, Penny eventually lost her battle with cancer.
The KCCP is a long term project that will hopefully expand to a global program. Children’s
cancer affects many families. Thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and
with the help of research, their chances of surviving have more than tripled. KCCP hopes to be
a part of finding a cure.
“The Pacific Northwest is the beginning. The world is our goal.”

Thank you!
A huge thank you to the Kiwanis Clubs (listed below) that supported my ICON trip. At
ICON, I was able to receive my official training as Lieutenant Governor, learn about
service projects and organizations, and meet with other Lieutenant Governors and
members from around the world. I will be applying this new knowledge and inspiration
to help me with the rest of my term.
