SENIOR CENTER PROCEDURES/POLICIES/GUIDELINES
Not all speakers and programs offered at the Center are endorsed by the Center or the City.
The programs and learning opportunities are offered to provide information, education and
enjoyment. Use your discretion and best judgment as to what personal information
you share with anyone at any programs.
Waiting Lists: If a trip, class or activity sells out, you may add your name to the waiting list without
payment due. As openings come about, we call those on the list to see if they are still available to fill in.
Phone messages are not left, we call until someone picks up. Leave your best number (s) to be reached.
Physical Assistance: Anyone needing physical assistance while at the Center or on a trip, must bring an
individual with him/her to provide the necessary care. The assistant will have to pay the same
participation cost, but does not have to be a member. Remember, we are not “Adult Day Care”.
3rd Wednesday of Each Month: Resident sign up for new trips, programs. Numbers in order of sign up
are passed out at 8am for the 9am start. Resident members may sign up for self and one other resident
member. Walk-ins receive first priority, mailed in and phoned in as time permits or end of day.
The following day registration is open at 9am to all registered members in the same detail.
Guests are welcome on one trip per year as a non-member, but we encourage you to join us!
Welcome to November, quite possibly the fastest month of the year. Much to do,
much to get involved with. Please get out and vote on Tues. Nov. 7. It will soon
be time for warming up the car, driving slower and more carefully in snow,
wearing layers upon layers and watching for snow alerts. It also means drinking
more hot cocoa, wearing the fuzzy warm socks, staying home all day to read
without feeling guilty and my favorite: pajamas by 5pm! Accentuate the positive!
Our senior center is here for you this winter. Try a new class, get into the Fit
Well program. Start singing or learning some music. There are a lot of ways to
get involved at all levels of physical capabilities. Thank you all for another great
year, we are looking ahead to 2018 to be healthy, happy and hopeful.
The real daylight time change is Nov. 5! Have a great holiday season ~ Amy

BOARD ACTIVITIES & ARTS AND CRAFTS
I am happy to report that the board has had a successful year and I want to thank all of
you who have supported our different fundraisers. We are a non profit organization so
the money we make pays for the different expenses the board is responsible for.
So THANK YOU so much for both your Financial and Volunteer support.
The board members could not accomplish the things that we do without YOU. There are
three fundraisers coming up in November and December. We are having a BAKE SALE
on Election Day November 7th. Since this is an important election we are anticipating
that a large number of voters will be at the Center that day. I am asking anyone who
would like to bake something for this sale to please call Lucy at 942-1948 or myself at
942-1092 and let us know what kind of baked goods you would like to donate. We really
can use your help. Our Christmas party is at the Patrician Party Center on December
15th. We are having a Chinese Auction at the party, I hope to see a lot of you there.
Last year we had 183 members attend. We are also selling the ALL AROUND TOWN
COUPON BOOKS for the remainder of this year. They do make nice Christmas gifts.
The last thing I want to mention is that the BOARD ELECTION will take place the first week in December.
Pictures of all the candidates running for election will be posted at the Center so you will be able to place a face
with a name. PLEASE take the time to come to the Center between Friday Dec. 1st through Friday Dec. 8th to
cast your vote. You know the saying, "If you do not vote, You have no right to complain". I know these wishes are
awfully early but since this will be our last newsletter for the year I want to wish everyone not only a
Happy Thanksgiving but also a Blessed Christmas and a Truly Wonderful New Year. Take Care, Helen !
