Brighton: The SuperFused City?
#BrightonFuse
“I am so proud of Brighton and Hove’s renowned digital and technology sector. There is no doubt whatsoever that the sector is now an important
and special value creator for the city, so it’s imperative that we build on that success and put the digital and technology sector right at the heart of
our economic plans for the future.
Brighton Fuse is a remarkable piece of research that sets out how best to rise to that challenge and realise the enormous potential to do even more.
I am sorry that because of votes in the House of Commons I cannot be with you this evening to learn more about the findings. However, I did want to take the opportunity to both thank everyone who has got us to this point,
with a special mention for Wired Sussex, and to offer you my continued support as we move towards an exciting new vision of Brighton and Hove
as the SuperFused city.”
Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton Pavilion

“I am so pleased that Wired Sussex is once again at the forefront when it comes to analysing , understanding and encouraging our digital creative industries locally.
Whilst there is much to be celebrated, we shouldn’t be resting on our laurels if we are to stay ahead of our
competitors.
The Brighton Fuse is precisely what’s needed to that end.”
Mike Weatherly, Conservative MP for Hove & Portslade

“The Brighton CDIT cluster is clearly a great success story and I welcome this study that looks at the factors underpinning its success.
We are living in an increasingly convergent world where the earlier distinctions between arts and digital technologies are blurring.
The creative industries have always been early adopters of new technologies and I want to see similar clusters thrive right across the UK.”
Ed Vaizey, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries & MP for Wantage and Didcot
