The Bluegrass Alliance for Women will offer two $500 non-renewable scholarships to women who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and a commitment to volunteer service. One will be awarded to a traditional student (attending college immediately after high school or current GED graduate) and one for a non-traditional student. The Legacy of Leadership Scholarship is available to female residents of one of the Bluegrass Area Development District counties (Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, and Woodford). The scholarship is open to women who will be attending college as a full-time student or a part-time student carrying nine credit hours. APPLICATION FORM (This application contains two pages.  1. One letter of recommendation from an organization supporting volunteer community service,

e.g., Outreach, Faith-based, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, 4-H, Girls Scouts, Key Club, Beta Club, Student Council, etc.

2. One personal letter of recommendation from a member of the applicant's community who knows the applicant well. (cannot be a relative)

3. An original 250 word essay describing the applicant's volunteer and/or leadership experience and the applicant's aspirations, goals, or needs relating to volunteerism and leadership.
