Ross Nichols Remembers DavidI developed a close relationship with David that began in 1994. For nearly adecade, we communicated by mail, fax, and phone. I benefited greatly fromthese exchanges and always felt inspired by his words. I met David, face toface in 2000, when my wife and I attended the United Israel World Unionannual meeting. This photo is one of my favorites, because it demonstratesthat even into his nineties the fire had not diminished.

As a result of my knowing David, I dedicated my life to advancing the visionand goals of the organization he founded, now more than seven decades ago.In 2003, on Kislev 24, I was ordained along with two others as ministers of theHebrew Faith through United Israel. In 2015, I was elected as a Vice Presidentfor the organization, and then one year later was appointed to the position ofBulletin Editor and tasked to resume publication of the same. In 2016, withsupport and encouragement of others, the United Israel Center South wasopened and I became a full-time minister for United Israel World Union.

In Memory of David: A Look BackBy Ralph Buntyn

I first met United Nations correspondent David Horowitz in April 1992. Ibecame actively involved in United Israel World Union, the organization hefounded in 1944, and for the next ten years spent considerable time withhim. In addition to the United Israel organizational activities and annualmeetings, I had many opportunities to visit with David while in New York oncorporate business, always trying to arrange my schedule to allow time forour visit. We frequently had lunch together in the UN Secretariat Buildingcafeteria before returning to his press section office to spend time together. Those visits hold special meaning.

Ralph Buntyn is Executive Vice President and associate editor of UnitedIsrael World Union. A historian and researcher, his many articles andessays have appeared in various media outlets.

David's LegacyBy Rebecca Buntyn

Becoming acquainted with David Horowitz in 1993 on the occasion of theJubilee, Fiftieth Anniversary, of UIWU, and David’s 90th birthday became apivotal moment in my search for the unknowable. My spiritual visionsharpened and increased and my appetite for knowledge became almostinsatiable as David patiently took me at the point I was in my spiritualjourney.

His life and his death became a template for us to emulate. He provided anexample of how to live and how to die.

David left an incredible imprint on my life as he prepared for the next. Wehave been left with the admonition to “do justice, love mercy, and walkhumbly with our G-d”, an admonition David successfully applied to his ownlife. His legacy motivates all who knew him, knew about him, or read hisworks.

I miss him.

Rebecca "Becky" Buntyn is the Secretary of United Israel World Union.(Editor's Note - She also happened to be one of David's most cherishedfriends in his later years)

UI Ministers Support Cancer JamBy David F. and Patricia A. Tyler

The 4th Annual Cancer Jam was held Saturday April 7, 2018 at the PolishHome in Rome, NY. Six acts supported this worthy cause with their music. They came together for the purpose of raising funds to go towards the fightagainst childhood cancer. It was done through the Amanda King Foundation.Amanda King bravely fought Ewing's Sarcoma for 16 months before passingaway on June 7, 2009. Her wish was that her family do what they could tohelp other children and their families who are fighting cancer. TheAmanda L King Memorial Fund has been created to help fulfill that wish. The fund is used to help area families who have a child fighting cancer andto also give grants to childhood cancer research.

The Amanda L King Memorial Fund is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity thatprovides financial assistance to families who have a child fighting cancer inCentral New York. Why We Do What We Do....Over 12,600 children per year are diagnosed with childhood cancer. That isenough children to fill two classrooms each day. Approximately 3600children a year die from their disease. Of those diagnosed almost 80% havemetastatic (cancer that has spread) disease. Only one new pediatric cancerdrug has been approved for use in the past 20 years. One in 330 children willbe diagnosed with cancer by age 20. Although the 5-year survival rate issteadily increasing, one quarter of children diagnosed with cancer will diewithin 5 years from the time of diagnosis. Cancer remains the number onedisease killer of America's children - more than Cystic Fibrosis, MuscularDystrophy, Asthma and AIDS combined. The cause of most childhoodcancers is unknown and at present, cannot be prevented. Today, up to 75% ofthe children with cancer can be cured, yet, some forms of childhood cancershave proven so resistant to treatment that, in spite of research, there is nocure. Several childhood cancers continue to have a very poor prognosis, including: brain stem tumors, metastatic sarcomas, relapsed acutelymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and relapsed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.Despite these facts, childhood cancer research is vastly and consistentlyunderfunded.

Tikkun Olam - A Jewish concept defined by acts of kindness performed toperfect or repair the world. The phrase is found in the Mishnah, a body ofclassical rabbinic teachings. It is often used when discussing issues of socialpolicy, insuring a safeguard to those who may be at a disadvantage. Inmodern Jewish circles, tikkun olam has become synonymous with thenotion of social action and the pursuit of social justice. The Torah requiresthat we all must care for the world and the people in it.

The Exodus - Part TwoThis class is the conclusion to our three part series on the themes associatedwith Passover Season. In this teaching, Ross first establishes the greatness ofthe former Exodus using passages from the Hebrew Bible. He then showsthat the main elements of the greatest story ever told can be shown from thesame Bible to be elements that will not be told forever. In “Exodus PartTwo,” Ross speaks of the future deliverance that is presented by the ancientprophets of Israel. What sets this latter Exodus apart from the former? Whatmakes it greater? You will not want to miss the exciting conclusion to ourseries on The Exodus – both the former and latter.
