In order to the totality of mans condition before God, it is necessary

    to comprehend mans original transgression.understan

Nothing has changed with mans nature si!We are naturally born into the world with a disposition toward evil and are quickly

corrupted (Gen 8:21). For the imagination of mans heart is evil from his youth (Gen

8:21). Man originally chose his will above Gods and the rebellion has continued

through the succeeding generations since Adam.

Man is is persistently stiffnecked, obstinate, pertinacious, hardhearted, stubborn,

impudent, contentious, and tenacious in his rejection of Gods authority and in

seeking his own will. Man walks by his own sentiments (combination of feelings

and opinions as a basis for action or judgment). The whole history of man supportsthis conclusion there is no doubt.

In the man was created by God and in the image of God (havingthe Lords nature) and after the likeness of God (spirit, Gen 1:26-27).

Genesis 2:8-9, And the God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there

he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to

grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; thealso in the midst of the garden, and the .

tree of lifetree of knowledge of good and evil

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of thegarden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good

and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof

thou shalt surely die (Gen 2:16-17).

    Transgressing Gods will brings death

Gods desire was for man to freely serve and worship Him out of love (Jn 3:16, 15:13).For this to be possible man had to have a free will and the ability to choose (whosoever

will 1 Tim 2:4, Mt 12:50, Lk 6:47-48, Rev 22:17). Otherwise mans fellowship and

service to God would not truly be motivated by love and devotion.

    Freewill choice

God provided for all of mans needs in the garden

Man was placed in a beautiful garden, known as and given meaningful work

to perform (Gen 2:8, 15). God provided for all of mans needs in the garden (Gen

1:29, 2:9, 16). Man was also given dominion over all the earth and the other creaturesGod had made (Gen 1:28).

    Eden

Man was to be faithful to God!In order for man to freely and lovingly serve God, a was provided withinthe garden. One is forced to serve in the absence of choices, and God desires

of heart. This choice was in terms of the fruit of two distinct trees

(Gen 2:9). To eat of the one tree was through submission to the will of God. Toeat of the other tree was to Gods will and choose your own will and

Isaiah 64:8, But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay (from the dust),and thou our potter (Creator); and we all are the work of thy hand.

He was once an anointed Cherub that walked in Eden the garden of God, and

provided a spiritual covering for Gods earthly creation (Ez 28:13-14).

    Lucifer

Lucifer is a created being (spirit) who was perfect in all his ways until iniquity was

found in him (Ez 28:15). The was in Lucifers heart byreason of his wisdom and perfect beauty (Ez 28:12, Ez 28:2, 31:8-10). His heart was

because of the brightness of his beauty and this corrupted his wisdom

Lucifer is a created being and not

    seed of iniquity

    lifted up

The iniquity found was self-exaltation resulting in complete outright rebellion against God.

Lucifers wisdom was corrupted because he now sought to live and perform his own willabove Gods thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God(Ez 28:2, 31:10).

    arrogprid exaltation haughtines

Rebellion in theThe scriptures define true wisdom as seeking to know and perform Gods will (Job

28:28, Pv 9:10). This is a complete and perpetual dependence upon God and aheartfelt desire to please Him.

The book of Ezekiel states that Lucifer walked in Eden, the garden of God (Ez

28:13-14). Therefore, he fell sometime between the creation of the garden and his

conversation with Eve. In all probability, Lucifer exalted himself due to his jealousy

    of Gods creation of man.

jealousy eHe was perfect as originally created, but was not content (Ez 28:12, 31:8-9). Thus,God cast him from his heavenly presence and he fell as lightning to the earth (Is14:12, Lk 10:18).

the rebellion: Isaiah 14:13-15, For thou hast said in thine heart, ascend into heaven, exalt my throne above the stars (angels) of

Can you see the I, I, and the Me, Me? Can you see how this negates the will of the

one true God of all? Such pride, such arrogance these are characteristics that Godhates, for they are an abomination to Him (Pv 16:5). Its all about

Lucifers devotion (heart) was to himself and seeking those things which would bring

satisfaction to self. Lucifer exalted himself and was cast down and greatly humbled

(Ez 28:13-17, 31:16). Lucifer has fallen and is now known as , the ,

    Satan devildragserpent

Rather than obey God and conform to Gods will, Satan chose his own will to seek

his own way. Satan is so deceptive and convincing through his lies, half-truths,misrepresentations, twisting of the truth and ambiguities that he convinced a third of

Gods angels to join him in his revolt against God (Jude 1:6, Rev 12:4). Satan rose his

throne above these angels and they all sought their own way apart from God. These

are the principalities, rulers of the darkness of this world and the spiritual wickednessin high places.

The devil then set his sights upon man, the apple of Gods eye.

concerns making righteous decisions based upon the truth. Psalm 33:4-5, For the

word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness

and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. These things are the verynature of God.

Satan became the opposite of God in His rebellion. God cannot allow suchwickedness to exist throughout eternity. To do so, God would essentially surrender

to the very things that are abominable to Him and Satan would rise above. The

Creator would then serve the creation. God has already pronounced a judgment

upon him of an eternal separation of punishment into the to becarried out at a later time (Rev 20:10, Jn 16:11). For now God uses him for the

The entered the Garden of Eden in the form of a and

convinced man (first Eve, then Adam) to transgress Gods will by eating of the

fruit of the forbidden tree. In conversation with the serpent, Eve said: Genesis 3:3-5, But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said,

Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto

the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eatthereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and

    devi serpent

The devil craftily takes mans focus off of God and places it upon man. What manwants and what is desirable to man rather than what God wills. The temptation is for

man to have knowledge of good and evil resident within himself rather than

depending upon God for it. The objective would be to become just like God,meaning that man could decide what he wants to do for himself apart from God.

Man would decide what is right and what is wrong. Man could seek his own will

above Gods will and determine his own actions.

The devil told them that they could come out from

under Gods authority or rule and seek their own way

and thus . This has been The

Lie since the beginning and is now burned(interwoven) into the very nature of fallen man. Man

    thebeginning

    since become as gods

chose to obey the devil rather than God and fallen man now has the nature of the

devil (the nature of the lie). The great sin of man isfor God and the LordsHow dishonoring to God to

submit to that which opposes Him. Man rebelled against his Creator in favor ofself rule. Man now seeks after the things which please his flesh this is mans

way. Man sought what his flesh perceived as good (not the spirit) and mans flesh

became his god. Since man chose his flesh over obedience to God, man now serves

the flesh (obeys its desires, its lusts). Psalms 81:12, So I gave them up unto their

own hearts lust: and they walked in their own counsels.Seeking the lusts of

    Selfrule

Man would become as God because he would now independently decide what he

wanted to do for himself with no more reliance, obedience or true love for the one

true God. of the devil since the very beginning - you can sin and notdie. This is what Satan did, he transgressed Gods will and made himself to be as

God. Can you see how the devil appeals to man to join his rebellion by doing thesame? The devil says that you can rise above God (disobey) and do your own willand not die. It is for us to understand this lie of the devil.

    The Lie

    So important

The devil came in deception speaking the opposite of truth and then suggested that

God was the deceiver (Rev 3:5). That which is opposite of God is confusion and

rebellion.Until man puts down his rebellion and submits to God, there will be no

    reconciliation and life.

All sin (iniquity) is resultant from serving the flesh (rather than God) which

is resultant from the devils lie (which is the devils own nature).

A major component in the rebellion against God is pride. Pride is the exalting of

ones self. Pride is conceit or overconfidence of ones own self and may bemanifested through exalting of ones accomplishments (achievments) and abilities.

Arrogance is the act of taking much upon ones self. It also exalts the worth of onesself to an undue degree. For man to exalt his will, then Gods will must suffer. To

walk in your way rather than Gods way is just such undue self exaltation. You are

conveying that your way is superior, more important and worthy of adherence

(devotion, obedience, observance, loyalty, faithfulness). Do you see how thisnegates God and relegates Him to unimportance (unworthy)? When man pridefully

seeks his own path, then man does not follow Gods path.

God hates pride! Proverbs 8:13, The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, andarrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Is there any question

as to why God would hate pride? Pride is an affront to the very being of God. God

resists the proud and loves the humble (Js 4:6). Luke 1:51-52, He hath shewed

strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts(seeking their way). He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them

    of low degree.

To become great in the kingdom of God, you must become least (Mt 18:4). Jesus

submitted to the Father and we submit to Christ (1 Cor 11:3, Jn 15:10). One submitsto the will of another. What is being ? To submit/yield to the authority

of another without objection or resistance. To be ruled by the decision, will or

judgment of another. This encompasses meekness, obedience, surrender, yielding, and

humbleness. In heaven, the angels are in submission to Gods authority (Mt 6:10, Lk11:2, Heb 1:5, 2:5, Jude 1:6). He that is least of all, the same shall be great (Lk 9:48).

God desires such submission in all of us and this is not a dishonor (Eph 5:21).

    submissive

Even though the devil convinced man to join his rebellion against God, they are not

united in it. Part of Gods curse upon the serpent was enmity (hatred, hostility)

between the serpent (devil) and man (Gen 3:15). God through His love and mercyhas provided a way, The only Way, for man to renounce and relinquish his

rebellion against the Lord and come back under

    His authority. This is

accomplished only through Gods onlybegotten Son, Jesus Christ (Jn 10:25-26, 14:6, Acts 4:12). The devil has no hope of

any such salvation. Therefore, the devil seeks to destroy man by separating him for

his Creator through transgression and death. Therefore the devil is an adversary,

God will not allow the devil to force mans free will, so he has to lure man through

his own (of the flesh) into seeking his own way (which is his fallen nature)

and thus continuing in the rebellion which is resultant in eternal .lusts

    death

James 1:13-15, Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for

God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is

tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath

conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. This isnt Gods doing, man chose his way in rebelling against Gods will and

authority. Our actions have definite consequences and we reap what we sow (Gal

6:7-8, Job 4:8). Since man has the nature of the devil (Jn 8:44), it isnt difficult for

the devil to entice one who is not fully submitted to God (2 Cor 2:11, Eph 4:27). 2Timothy 2:26, And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the

devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Jeremiah 4:22, For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are

sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, butto do good they have no knowledge.

Although the spirit of man is eternal, the flesh is temporal and will return to the dustfrom which it was taken (Gen 3:19, Job 34:15). Job 34:15, All flesh shall perish

together, and man shall turn again unto dust. Ecclesiastes 12:7, Then shall the dust

return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

All men that are in rebellion to God (at death) will join the devil in the

. However, God has mercifully provided man The Way to come back underHis authority. John 14:6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Therefore, the devils ploy (scheme, strategy) is to keep man seeking his own way and from finding this straitgate/door (Jesus, Jn 10:9), and walking on the path or way which leads to God.

Jesus paid the penalty of the broken law. Christ first fulfilled the law through Hisperfect obedience to the Father, and then became the atonement for us.In keepingwith His character (His way Heb 3:10, 12), Gods way requires that a man freely

approach Him through love, devotion and obedience known as .

The devils lie in tempting man was that man

could disobey God and seek his own way

and not die (ye shall not surely die, Gen 3:4). The truth turned out to be quite

different. God is sovereign and true to His Word and man really did (and does) dieas a result of violating the Lords command. Man still seeks his own path but dies

as a result (all die physically). The reality of death confirmed the truth of Gods

Word (thou shalt surely die) and exposed the lie of the devil (ye shall not surely die). The truly wise man will now consider the equivalent (corresponding) truth of thetwo established paths through life: willful (voluntary) surrender and obedience to

Since the devils lie was just that, then the fruit of the lie, which is seeking your ownway as also a incorrect; and living in such a manner will result in eternal death (the

second death). Eating the devils fruit leads to death its poison! Many transgress

(violate) Gods will and believe they shall not surely die they have bought into

the lie. For the fruit of a lie is death and all liars go to hell (Rev 21:8, Pv 12:22).

    You do not have to

, from the beginning, God said if you

transgress my will and authority (Gen 2:17), thou will

surely die and the devil said (Gen 3:4), ye shall not surely die. These are two

completely opposite positions (resultant ways or paths of life). God states, you willobey Him and the devil says, one position is in rebellion

to the other (as is the devil to God). Man will live his life in conformance to one orthe other of these statements and the consequences will be eternal. Since the fall of

man (transgressing of Gods will), there has existed two paths. Throughout the Wordof God these paths are known as either: the narrow and broad ways; light and

darkness; faith and unbelief; Gods way and mans way; Spirit and the flesh; sheep

and the goats; and wheat and the tares. The two paths are the same, just characterized

    differently.

    Therefo

The vast majority are following their own way. They are just doing their own thingeveryday (God is not in their thoughts, Ps 10:4). Perhaps in reading this track, you

have come to a fork in the road. Which way will you go?

Christ came to deliver from sin, but many wish to retain it and stay in the darkness,

yet seek reconciliation with God on their terms (Jn 3:19). They want to walk their

path with a religious covering. Walking the path is following Jesus

(Jn 10:4). This is not a one time confession, but an entire . . Youmust walk the path, otherwise you are as the devil and his fallen angels (demons).

James 2:19, Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also

believe, and tremble. The devils know of Gods reality, they once served the Lord.

The situation is that the devils do not serve God, because they are in rebellion. When man mentally agrees or acknowledges God, yet is not walking in God, then

he is no different. The walk is where God tears down all the things of our flesh and

conforms us to Christ in humbleness, love, obedience, and devotion to God. This is

preparation for eternity. A will tell you that you can serve God andwalk in your own way (the flesh).

falseI know whats in Gods Word, but God

    life of faithtrue

will understand. (Is God true to His Word, or

Jeremiah 23:22, But if they had stood in my counsel,

and had caused my people to hear my words, then they

should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.Religious man makes great professions of Jesus and they do many religious things,

but do they seek this deliverance from their own way? Do they walk with Christ

or contrary? Do words and actions agree? walk the talk!

Mark 12:30-31, And thou shalt love the Lordthy God with all thy , and with all thy ,

and with all thy , and with all thy : this is the first commandment.

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There

is none other commandment greater than these. Jesus took the TenCommandments and condensed them into two. Upon these two commandments

hang all the law and the prophets (Mt 22:40) and these are more than all whole

burnt offerings and sacrifices (Mk 12:33-34). This means that every thing God has

ever required of man, as conveyed to man, through commandments, prophets andSon, is to be found in these two commandments.

Depart, depart from Me, ye that love your

darkness? Depart, ye that misuse My name for

your devotion to self. Look at who Jesus says does enter the kingdom of heaven,

he that doeth the will of my Father. Jesus once told a group of religious men whobelieved on Him (Jn 8:31) that He would set them free (Jn 8:36). They didnt

consider themselves under any bondage and didnt see the need for freedom. Jesus

tried to tell them that they were servants to sin (Jn 8:34). They continued to argue,

so Jesus told them quite bluntly: John 8:44, Ye are of your father the devil, and thelusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode

not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he

speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. This sounds harsh if you

do not understand the meaning. Jesus was saying that the devil is the father of TheLie (and all others) which proposed you could violate Gods will and yet live; and

that you could be as gods and seek your own way. Jesus was telling them that when

Satan spoke this lie, he was speaking of what

Many will say Lord, Lord; these folks believed they had a relationship with Christ.

They will be clearly taken by surprise when Jesus does not know them (totallydeceived, yet very hard to convince). How could they have been so misled (by

pastors who wouldnt offend the flesh with the truth). These people also used

Christs name to give messages and performed deliverances and this suggest morethan a casual association. These many people performed lots of religious works inJesus name. Perhaps they attended church every time the door opened? Perhaps

they taught Sunday school and were in the choir? Maybe some were pastors? Look

what Jesus says, ye that work iniquity. Perhaps they needed no deliverance?

Maybe they were good righteous Christians (on the outside) one or two days of theweek, but lived a bit self seeking through the rest of the week? Perhaps they pushed

(overly applied) their definition of Gods grace a bit too far about sin in their lives?

Obviously once they were saved (by their methods) they were not always saved

(read the verse again and think). They were very religious people, butChrist did not know them and cast them away.

now seeks his own will). Christ was further stating that this lie kills because it has

brought death to all men (therefore the devil is a murderer). Jesus was saying that

they had the devils nature in that they seek their own way and thereby sin. Christwas telling them that they were being driven by their lusts to seek their own way

which was contrary to God. Satan did not abide in the truth, where he once was, but

rather chose his own way in trying to raise his throne above the stars of God and be

like the most High. Jesus is saying that we must be delivered from this lie, this

nature, or we will die in our sins (Jn 8:24). Jesus said that we must do the will of God(Mt 7:21-23). Man consistently does the will of the devil. The rebellion continues.

The Lord says: James 4:7, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and

he will flee from you. The devil cannot harm those who are truly submitted to God

because God will not allow it. The devil tries to make us an adversary of God (Is63:10) thereby giving him power over us (examples 1 Chr 21:1, Job 1:9-11, 3-5, Is

63:10). The devil compels you to sin and then accuses you before God (Rev 12:10).

Jesus is the way and is characterized as being The

Light and there is no darkness in Him (He did Gods will, didnt seek His own way,1 Jn 1:5). Darkness is the devils work, which are all things resultant from The Lie

(Eph 2:2). Light is opposite from darkness as is Gods way from the devils.

Therefore men walking in their way (seeking their will or flesh) are in darkness. Dueto mans disobedience the whole world lieth in darkness (1 Jn 5:19). However, Godslight always overcomes the darkness (Jn 1:5) when light is present, darkness flees.

shined. The darkness they walked in was their own path which is in the shadow

of death. Your way is just a step from eternal and complete separation from the

Lord God Almighty. The gates of death are opening for you (Job 38:17).

    shadow of death light

Jesus brought hope that we could come out of our way and intoChrists path. Jesus said: John 12:46, I am come a light into the

world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. So those who

follow Christ will not abide in their own way which is mans rebellion against

God. John 8:12, Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of theworld: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of

life. We must follow Jesus on that narrow path that He forged, otherwise we walk in

our own darkness (Jude 1:12-13). However, few travel the narrow path, rather

choosing their own, but why? John 3:19-20, And this is the condemnation, thatlight is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their

deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the

light, lest his deeds should be reproved. These actually prefer their own path. They

are content to remain in the rebellion under the authority of the devil via the devils

lie. Job 24:13, They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the waysthereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. obscurity (shadows,

muriness); for brightness, but walk in darkness (Is 59:9) grope.

Faith verses Faith is walking by Gods direction. God cannot beapproached in any other way (Heb 11:6). Romans 1:17, For therein is the

righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live

by faith. Living by faith means applying it to every area of your live (being a doer, Js

1:23-24). Faith does not walk by sight (2 Cor 5:7, Heb 11:1) but by total trust andreliance on that which is beyond self (God alone, Gal 2:20, Ps 2:12). Faith bypasses

the flesh because it cannot be understood through human reasoning and emotion (is as

foolishness, 1 Cor 1:18, 2:14) or perceived by the five senses (touch, sight, smell, hearing, taste). Faith often requires denial and sacrifice to the things of the flesh. Theflesh will not like the notion of forsaking anything - faith denies the flesh its control.

Therefore, to follow the flesh or your way is unbelief. Unbelief is rejection of

Christs gospel by not actually living it applying it.

Matthew 4:4, But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by

bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

    Job 23:12

Mere profession of Christ or words are hollow and require no sacrifice (Js 2:19),

but actions bring forth sacrifice and establish the hearts intent. If the flesh orunbelief is strong, then faith is weak (and vice versa, Rm 4:20). The things that the

flesh seeks (sees) are temporal and passing; but the things that are known

(unfolded, revealed) through faith are eternal (2 Cor 4:18). Faith will save us and

unbelief will surely cause us to perish. Hebrews 3:19, So we see that they couldnot enter in (to Gods promises) because of unbelief. You cannot enter the strait

gate (Jesus) through unbelief (your way, religious or not).

The narrow path is walked by faith. Faith is not religious

observance, but rather trust in God everyday, which goesbeyond your abilities. Faith is to cast away those things in your life that oppose

(and shame) God so that you may bring glory to God. Faith is standing for truth

(even if alone) when everyone else doesnt. Faith is denying the flesh its desires

(pleasures, entertainments) so that your heart and mind can be stayed upon theLord. Through our faith, God divinely influences our hearts (i.e. grace, Eph 2:8)

and this is manifested in our actions to the saving of our souls.

    or?

Gods Way verses mans - Gods way is only followed byyielding totally to Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength (Luke 10:27).

Deuteronomy 10:12-13, And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of

thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to

serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep thecommandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for

thy good? - to cleave to Him in obedience (Deut 13:4)! This is how things were

prior to mans fall and this is how things will be eternally forever more. Mans way

(seeking self or your own way) could also be characterized as seeking after theimaginations of your own heart or doing what is right in your own eyes.

Man has continued tofollow his way since

    being put out of Eden.

Genesis 6:5-6, And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,

and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him athis heart. God was so grieved that He decided to completely destroy man in a flood

(Gen 6:7). Fortunately, Noah found grace in Gods sight and he and his offspring

were preserved. Genesis 6:12-13, And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it

was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said untoNoah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence

through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. The same can

certainly be said of the time in which we live things couldnt be much worse. Man

has almost exclusively followed his way since the transgression in Eden. This has

been unacceptable and abominable to God.Mans way has revealed itself time andagain such as through the tower of Babel (Gen 11:1-9); evil nations like the Hittites,

Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and the Jebusites (Deut 7:1-8,

    9:4); or in wicked cities

like Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 13:13, 18:20, 19:13, 2 Pt 2:6). God has appealed to

man over and over to turn from his way and to submit and obey the Lord. Isaiah65:2, I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which

walketh in a way that was not good; after their own thoughts. The Lord also said,

Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their

abominations. Man continually choses his own way because it is in his very nature(the lie he accepted to be as gods). Therefore, man never sees anything

    wrong in what

    he does.Proverbs 16:25,

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man (his way), but the end thereof are the

ways of death. AND Proverbs 21:2, Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:

but the LORD pondereth the hearts (intent, who is seeking God). When mancommits abomination through his ways, he is not ashamed, neither does he blush

(Jer 8:12) because he does not delight in Gods Word (seeking and living in GodsDisregard for God

    - Jesus has given the Holy Spirit to those who will

follow Him. The Spirit leads us down the narrow path and teaches us along the way.

Romans 8:14, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of

God. The flesh is the nature of man that seeks self or its own way. The Spiritand the flesh are contrary (opposed) to one another (Gal 5:17). Romans 8:1, There

is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not

after the flesh, but after the Spirit. To walk after the Spirit is to walk the narrow

path, living completely to the will of God (Mk 3:35) having no confidence in theflesh (Php 3:3).

    Spirit and the

The narrow path is contrary to the flesh as is

the Spirit. To walk after the flesh is to walk as you see fit under your own authority

your thoughts, opinions, sentiments, desires, and imaginations. The Lord searches thehearts and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts (1 Chr 28:9). The eyes ofthe LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the

behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him (2 Chr 16:9).

To profess Jesus, yet not walk as He walked (to be religious) is to be condemned(while being blind and deceived, Mt 7:21). If we claim to live in the Spirit, then we

must walk in the Spirit (Gal 5:25). Romans 8:5, For they that are after the flesh do

mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

We will either travel one path or the other, but not both (simultaneously). God is notridiculed concerning those who think they can alternate back and forth between the

paths. Galatians 6:7-8, Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man

soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reapcorruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Ifyou live to the flesh (the devils lie), then Gods original truth stands: Thou shalt

surely die (Gen 2:17). God isnt playing gamesThe way we do things will reveal which path we are on (Mt 7:16, 20) what we

mind (give place to, seek/serve). The fleshly mind (way of doing things) is

(deep hatred, as between enemies, bitter attitude toward) with God: Romans 8:8, Sothen they that are in the flesh cannot please God. If we have Christs Spirit we will

walk accordingly, if we do not then we are none of His (Rm 8:9).

Romans 8:13, For if ye live after the flesh (your way), ye shall die: but if ye

through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body (die to self or your way, Col 3:5-

6), ye shall live. So we must travel Gods path and have no confidence in our way(flesh, Php 3:3). Galatians 5:16, This I say then, Walk in the Spirit (Gods narrow

path), and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh (mans wrongful way). 1 John 2:17,And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof (ways of man): but he that doeth

the will of God (Gods way) abideth for ever. Here is some wise advice: earnestlyseek the Lord through His Word, Spirit and prayer; then carefully examine your life

(ponder) and have eyes to see the reality of how these things must apply to your

specific actions. Matthew 16:24-25, Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man

will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Forwhosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my

sake shall find it. This means: He who is self seeking and follows his own way

shall die, but he who dies to self and submits to Gods way (for Christs sake) shall

live. More simply put: ; .Live for self and die die to self and

Jesus said, (Jn 12:26). This means to walk as he

walked totally conforming to the Fathers will. Where did Jesus go? Back to God.

Jesus went before and now those who trust in Him follow (Jn 10:4). Jesus hadkilled that old nature (our transgressions, the devils lie) on the cross; the old nature

that lives for self. If that old man is not crucified in us, then we are not Christs.

Romans 6:6, Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of

sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Most do notconsider seeking their own way as being sinful or wrong thats part of the

    deception.

    Come follow Me

The cross is the power of God to them that are saved (1 Cor 1:18). We no longer

walk in the old rebellious nature its dead on the cross. Jesus came to restore (Ps

23:3); but what? The relationship between God and man. How did the relationship

once exist? God the creator, reigned supremely, and man the creation submittedand obeyed His every Word. How will things exist? Those that are Christs shall be

gathered unto Him (1 Cor 15:23). Jesus will then put down all rule and authority,

placing all under His feet; including death (1 Cor 15:24, 25). esus Rules

before them (Christ came and led by example), and the sheep follow him: for they

know his voice (relationship, obedience, Jn 12:26). Then said Jesus unto them

again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep (Christs authority). All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers (anything we put ahead of

Christ robs us of our life in Him): but the sheep did not hear them (our eyes must be

on Jesus). I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine

    (precious close relationship).

But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you (those who

seek their own path and do not follow). My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (this is all day, everyday). Jesus looks for every lost sheep: Luke

15:4, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not

leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he

find it? The goats are not submitted to the shepherd, just themselves and theirendless lusts they eat anything even a big fat lie!

Matthew 25:34, 41, Then shall the King say unto them (sheep) on his right hand,

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the

foundation of the world. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart

from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

If serving God seems compulsory, restrictive or like a burden, then you are being

driven like a goat. Those who are driven will be quick to compromise or find a less

restrictive path. Those who are driven will only want to do the minimum that

seems to be required. Those who are driven will always wonder, whats in it forme (Job 21:15, 35:3). Those who are driven may do things in secret. Those who

are driven find comfort in numbers. Those who are driven will at best grudgingly

follow God. Those who are driven will seek a multitude of counsels until they hear

what they are looking for (Ps 5:10). Hosea 14:9, Who is wise, and he shallunderstand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the

LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall

Wheat and the - The wheat grain represents the good seed of theharvest that one expects to reap from ones efforts. This is the fruit resulting from the

life of the plant that is fit for use (life giving). Tares are the weeds that grow up

amongst the wheat and their lives have no redeeming value, and they actually hinder

the growth and productivity of the wheat. Jesus told a parable concerning wheat andtares (Mt 13:24-43). A parable is a simple story dealing with a very real circumstance

(situation, fact, event) in which the principal subject is described by another subject

resembling it in its properties and circumstances.

In this story, a man (representing Jesus) sows wheat into a field (the world). His

enemy (representing the devil) comes and sows tares among his wheat. The wheat and

the tares look alike until the fruit appears (Mt 13:26). This is how you know them: by

their fruits (Mt 7:20). The fruits are what they produce in their life. Tares soak up thewater and use the nutrients and spread all about seeking their way, but produce

nothing useful, just more of their kind (they transgress). The mans servants

(angels) inform him of the situation and request to remove the weeds. He tells them

to let them grow together until the end of the harvest, lest uprooting them, they

should hurt the wheat. Until such time, God sends rain and sun on the good and thebad, the just and the unjust (Mt 5:45). At harvest time, the tares are gathered first

and put into bundles and burned in the fire (eternal torment, Rev 20:11-15); then

the wheat is gathered to the barn (dwelling with God, Mt 13:30). Matthew 13:41-43,

The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of hiskingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them

into a : there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall

the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to

Matthew 7:16-20, Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of

thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but acorrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither

can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit

is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

ThereforeGod (your Creator) says that you must love Him with all your heart, mind, soul and

strength. This is all encompassing and makes God the priority in your life everyday

and at all times. You approach God with a willing mind and a perfect heart in a

humble spirit (1 Chr 28:9). In order to do this you must follow Christ in faith downthat narrow path as led by the Holy Spirit. This is a lifelong journey that tears down

the flesh and conforms you to the image of Christ. This path leads you back under

Gods authority and out of the rebellion that started with the devils lie.

The broad path is one that caters to the flesh. Your desires or plans tend to dominate

on this path. This may be as simple as just doing your own thing everyday earning

money and desiring the good things in life. God is not necessarily in your thoughts

and you tend to let your imaginations of the heart dominate your thinking. You maybe a really nice person! Many religious people may be on this path as they seek to

use Gods grace as a covering (license) to seek the flesh. Your nature is that of your

Father the devil you just want to forge your own path free of divine restrictions.

    Having considered the things written

herein, many will seek an easier way.

There will be a multitude (many) of voices pulling you to that easier way (away from

God) onto the broad path (Mt 7:13). Be assured, that any other way will either beyour way or another mans way based upon the devils lie (ye shall not surely

die, 2 Tim 4:3-4). 1 John 2:4, He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his

commandments (hear, mind, soul, strength), is a liar, and the truth is not in him. The

one who does not abide in the truth, abides in the lie and deceives himself thinkinghe can transgress the commandments (Christs gospel, the two great commandments)

and live. The devils lie was proven wrong by the reality of death. Satan said you

wouldnt die, but now you do. The devil is the father of all lies. Abiding in Gods

truth sets you free: John 8:32, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall makeyou free. Do you want the deliverance? The Word of the Lord is a reproach to many

(Jer 6:10) they have no delight in it. The love of Christ does not rejoice in iniquity,

but rejoiceth in the truth (1 Cor 13:6). A wise man will read this truth (Gods Word)

over and over and ut it in his heart. A dili ent attentive man will find that earl of

great price and give all to obtain it (all he is, Mt 13:46). Many are religiously doingwhat is right in their own eyes. Putting a religious context on the things you do

does not justify you in the sight of God. Putting Jesus name on your way does not

justify you before God. The cross (dying to self, Col 3:1-11, Gal 2:20) is foolishness

to them (1 Cor 1:18, 2:14) that are perishing.

    Proverb 14:9

Deuteronomy 10:12-13, And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of

thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and

to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the

commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day forthy good? - to cleave to Him in obedience (Deut 13:4)! This is the first great

commandment (Mk 12:29-30). The message is to surrender to Gods authority.Jesus must be the center of your life the very foundation (Lk 6:48). This is

being totally extreme in your devotion to Christ. No where in the Bible are we

told that we can worship or love God too much! Be zealous (Ti 2:14, Rev 3:19)!

John 6:38, For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will ofhim that sent me (also Jn 4:34). God has a plan to restore all things. This plan

includes reconciling fallen man back to God. However, man had committed a

tremendous and grievous transgression in Eden. This rebellion against Gods will

could not be simply excused or overlooked. A great price had to be paid! Man in hisfallen state could not provide the amends/recompense (Pv 20:9, Rm 3:23). God in

His loving, merciful, longsuffering, and forgiving nature, provided His Way to

bring reconciliation between Himself and any man who would willingly (lovingly)

submit to and obey Him to come back under Gods authority. Jesus came to bearthe brunt of Gods wrath and provide the necessary atonement. Atonement is

reconciliation after enmity whereby reparation is made by giving an equivalent for awrong committed. God in an overwhelming display of His true love for the world

provided the atonement by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be theonly acceptable sacrifice (Jn 3:16, Is 53:6).

Galatians 1:4, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this

present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father. In order for Christ

to accomplish the reconciliation, He had to live the life that Adam failed to live.Jesus had to do the opposite of Adam by choosing Gods will over His will. Adam

disobeyed God; Jesus would have to absolutely obey the Father. By totally

submitting His will to the Father, Jesus lived a sinless life that was acceptable to

the Father (Mk 1:11). Romans 5:19, For as by one mans disobedience many were

made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Jesus, as a man, had to be the image of God (what man was created to be). Jesus

was so successful that He could say: If you have seen me, you have seen the

Father (Jn 14:9). God came and demonstrated His love by example and what Hisexpectations are for us. John 10:4, And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he

goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. God walked

the walk, just as a man, and then said, . When we follow

Christ, He will lift us up and empower us through His Spirit to complete the course.

No one will be able to tell God that He just doesnt understand. Jesus Christ will

be able to judge absolutely righteously (Jn 8:15-16, Ps 96:13, 98:9). Even the

best arguments of those who have rejected Him will never hold. God is supremeand has considered all; none will be able to say He has judged unfairly. He does

not require that we do something that He was unwilling or unable to do. Jesuswalked the walk! Hebrews 2:9, But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower

than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that

he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Jesus came and bear

the devil; for the devil sinneth (missed the mark, transgressed) from the beginning.

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works

(the continuing rebellion) of the devil. Jesus came to destroy the devils lie for allthose who will lay down all rebellion and die to . Jesus makes peace between

path which Jesus forged by the Holy Spirit whom He has given. Our faith would

now bring us back to God through Christ (Jn 14:6, Heb 11:6).

John 12:49-50, For I have not spoken of myself; but the

Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what

I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that

his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak

therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

John 3:34, For he whom God hathsent speaketh the words of God: for

God giveth not the Spirit by measure

    unto him.

    John 7:16-17, Jesus

    answered them, and

    said, My doctrine is

    not mine, but his

that sent me. If anyman will do his will,

    he shall know of the

doctrine, whether itbe of God, or

    whether I speak of

    myself.

John 14:10-11, Believest thou not that Iam in the Father, and the Father in me? the

words that I speak unto you I speak not of

myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me,

he doeth the works. Believe me that I am inthe Father, and the Father in me: or else

believe me for the very works sake.

John 5:36, But I have greater

witness than that of John: for theworks which the Father hath given

me to finish, the same works that I

do, bear witness of me, that the

    Father hath sent me.

John 17:4-5, I have glorified thee on the

earth: I have finished the work which thou

gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the

glory which I had with thee before the

    world was.

John 9:4, I must work the works

of him that sent me, while it isday: the night cometh, when no

    man can work.

John 14:31, But that the world may know

that I love the Father; and as the Fathergave me commandment, even so I do

    John 5:17, But Jesus

    answered them, MyFather worketh hitherto,

    and I work.

We know that this man is a sinner (Jn 9:24)

John 5:16, And therefore did the Jews

persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him,

because he had done these things on the

    sabbath da .

This fellow doth not cast out

    devils, but by Beelzebub theprince of the devils (Mt 12:23-24). He hath a devil, and is mad;

why hear ye him (Jn 10:20)?

They thrust Jesus out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the

hill whereon their city was built,

that they might cast him down

    headlong (Lk 4:29).

Nay; but he deceiveth the people (Jn 7:12).

Then took they upstones to cast at him:

    but Jesus hid

    himself, and went

    out of the temple (Jn8:59).

After these things Jesuswalked in Galilee: for

    he would not walk in

Jewry, because theJews sought to kill him(Jn 7:1).

Say we not well that thou art a

Samaritan, and hast a devil (Jn

    8:48 ?

Catch him in his words (Mk 12:13).

That they might accuse him (Lk 11:54).

The devil tried to tempt Jesus with the lie: Luke 4:5-7, And the devil, taking him

up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a

moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and theglory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If

thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. Satan was asking Jesus to chooseHis own way and seek the desires of the flesh. This would be

submission to the devils way (self seeking, independence from God, the lie) and to

become a part of the rebellion. This would give Satan the worship he desires and

would literally make God his servant (Is 14:13-14). Consider Jesus response: Luke

4:8, And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it iswritten, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Jesus

was submitted to God and His purposes; He lived by His every Word (Lk 4:4)Command that thesethese stones be made

Jesus answered and said, It is written, Man shallnot live by bread alone, but by every word that

proceedeth out of the mouth of God.Mt 4:1-4

Philippians 2:7-8, But made himself of no

reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being

found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and

became obedient unto death, even the death of the

    cross.

    Luke 22:27, For whether is

greater, he that sitteth at meat,

or he that serveth? is not hethat sitteth at meat? but I am

among you as he that serveth.

Mark 10:45, For even the Son of man came

not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and

to give his life a ransom (to liberate, set free)

    for many.

2 Corinthians 8:9, For yeknow the grace of our Lord

he was rich, yet for your

sakes he became poor, thatye through his poverty

    might be rich.

1 Peter 2:21-22, For even hereunto

were ye called: because Christ alsosuffered for us, leaving us an example,

that ye should follow his steps: Whodid no sin, neither was guile found in

    his mouth:

John 12:26, If any man serve me, let him follow me; and

where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any manserve me, him will my Father honour.

    John 10:27, My sheep hear

my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and saidunto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sellwhatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and

thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, takeup the cross, and follow me.

    John 1:43, The day

and findeth Philip, and saith unto him,Follow me.

Matthew 4:18-20, And Jesus, walking by the sea ofGalilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, andAndrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they

were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, andI will make you fishers of men. And they straightwayleft their nets, and followed him.

Psalms 23:3, He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the

    paths of righteousness for his name's sake.Psalm 69:4, I

    restored that which

    I took not away.

Romans 5:10, For if, when we were

enemies, we were reconciled to God by thedeath of his Son, much more, being

reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

2 Corinthians 5:18, And all things are of

God, who hath reconciled us to himself by

Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry

    of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:20, Now then we are ambassadorsfor Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we

pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Romans 5:1, Therefore being justified byfaith, we have peace with God through our

    Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalms 85:10, Mercy and truth aremet together; righteousness and peace

    have kissed each other.

Colossians 1:21, And you, that were

sometime alienated and enemies in yourmind by wicked works, yet now hath he

    reconciled.

The devil lied to man. Through this lie, Adam sought self and transgressed the will of

God and a great separation occurred. Christ came and restored that which He took notaway by bearing the brunt of Gods wrath for rebellious man. Jesus lived the life of

obedience and faith that Adam was intended to live, but failed in. God demonstrated

His love for us and requires no more of us than He was willing to do. God also gives

us His Spirit and the strength (power/ability) that we lack (His grace, Ti 2:11-13) aswe live in faith. Therefore: 1 John 2:6, He that saith he abideth in him ought himself

also so to walk, even as he walked. AND Colossians 2:6-7, As ye have therefore

received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and

stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

The choice is yours. You can continue to follow the devils lie in seeking your path(your will, Me, Me, and I, I), which is rebellion to God, or you can die to self and find

your life in Jesus Christ (abiding continually). There is coming a day of settlement.

The rebellious will surely be cast out and the righteous will inherit all things.

    Matthew 4:21-22, And

going on from thence, hesaw other two brethren,

    James the son of Zebedee,

and John his brother, in a

    ship with Zebedee theirfather, mending their nets;

    and he called them. And

    they immediately left the

ship and their father, andfollowed him.

Mark 2:14, And as he passed by, he saw

Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at thereceipt of custom, and said unto him, Followme. And he arose and followed him.

John 21:19, This spake he, signifying by what death he

should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saithunto him, Follow me.

Matthew 8:22, But Jesus said unto him,Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Luke 9:61, And another also said, Lord, I willfollow thee; but let me first go bid them

farewell, which are at home at my house.Luke 9:23, And he

    said to them all, If

    any man will come

after me, let him denyhimself, and take up

his cross daily, andfollow me.Walk as He

    Jesus went before (Mk 9:12)
