Once upon a time, long, long ago,in a land far, far awaylived a kind and generousKing and Queen.
The King and Queenloved each other very muchas they did each andevery person intheir kingdom.
Such was their kindness, that eachand every day they would be foundsomewhere in the kingdom givingout presents.
No one was ever forgotten (asthe present list officer kept a list!).
They knew everyone’s birthday andanniversaries and, of course,Christmas was simply presents, presents, presents! In fact, they loved to give presentsmore than anything else.
Each present was always beautifully wrapped(with the help of the royal wrappers!) and a neatname label placed on it (thanks to the royalneat name writers!). What a happy land it was!
But one morning, the Queen was to bringnews that made everyone even happier! She announced to theKing that she had apresent for him and itwas to be the bestpresent he had ever had!
But what could it be? The King tried to guess.“Was it a new crown?” he asked.“No,” said the Queen,“you already have lots inthe Royal Jewels Room.”
“Was it new shoes?”he tried to guess.“No!” sighed the Queen.“When you alreadyhave 412 pairs!”“Really!” he gasped.
