I would like to extend a big thank you to all of our Kindy parents for helping with their childs smooth transition to school, for encouraging them to enter the classroom, even if there were a few tears and for praising them on their efforts to become independent. We couldn't do what we do without the continuous support of our parents and families. This week will be a busy one for us as we begin the process of electing our student leaders. We held our School Captain speeches and voting today and I was extremely proud of the nine Year 6 students who stood in front of their peers and family to explain why they would worthy holding the position of School Captain for 2019. Results will be announced tomorrow, followed by voting for House Captains, SRC members, Library Monitors and the Green Team throughout the rest of the week. On a final note, I would like to mention how proud I am of one particular parent leader in our school. Adele Huxtable, our P&C Secretary was nominated for the title of NSW P&C Volunteer of the Year 2018”. Adele has been chosen as a finalist and will now fly to Sydney on March 1st to join the other state finalists who will be acknowledged for their achievements for their role as a volunteer in their school. The overall winner of the title will be announced at the official celebration evening. Congratulations Adele! Railway Town students have officially kicked off a year of learning with our newest and youngest students completing their first week of primary school last week. I would like to extend a big thank you to all of our Kindy parents for helping with their child’s smooth transition to school, for encouraging them to enter the classroom, even if there were a few tears and for praising them on their efforts to become independent.

Adele Huxtable, our P&C Secretary was nominated for the title of “NSW P&C Volunteer of the Year 2018”. Applications can be submitted online with Transport NSW for free school travel under the School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS).

Primary (3-6) students that live more than 1.6km (straight line) or 2.3km (walking) from the school, along with ALL Infants (K-2) students, are eligible for free school travel.

Once you have enrolled your child, apply online at transportnsw.info/school-students

You will need to provide your home address and advise which bus company your child needs to travel with between home and school (ie. Buslink). The school then confirms that your details are correct, and you will get an email from Transport NSW confirming if your ap-plication is approved. Buslink will send travel passes out to the school in 2019.

For students that have already been approved, you will need to update their details online if the student is changing schools (eg. high school), changing address or requesting an addi-tional pass (eg. for joint custody - each parent needs to apply separately).

To update your details, go to apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updatedetails

If you don’t have internet access you can come into the school and use the community com-puter in the office or call Transport NSW on 131 500 to help with your application.

If there is no public transport in your area, you may be able to get a subsidy for driving your child to school. For details visit transportnsw.info/school-students.
