When you sign up for roadside assistance in the Advantage Auto Club (available in Illinois), you can purchase a Traffic Bond Card for $20 for six months or $30 for annual.

The bond card is an item that a driver can post with a police officer instead of surrendering their license when they receive a ticket for minor offenses.

In Illinois, if you are ticketed for a minor violation, the officer will take your license as bond to guarantee your appearance in

court and payment of your fine.

Your Traffic Bond Card can be used when arrested for a violation

punishable by fine only, $160.00 for any single offense, or not to

exceed $500.00 for multiple offenses.

In this way the driver will still have their ID to travel, cash checks or use credit cards.

The card guarantees the appearance in any State of Illinois court which requires or accepts arrest bond cards as noted above (so you can keep possession of your license).
