Lesson Text: Acts 2:1-4

Often we just follow along…

Mat 7:13-14 ESV "Enter by the narrow gate. For

the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to

destruction, and those who enter by it are many.

(14) For the gate is narrow and the way is hard

that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

The church is the Kingdom

Dan 2:44 NKJV And in the days of these kings the God of

heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed;

and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall

break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall

stand forever.

Mar 9:1 ESV And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there

are some standing here who will not taste death until they see

the kingdom of God after it has come with power."

The church is the Kingdom

Act 1:8 NKJV But you shall receive power when the Holy

Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me

in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of

the earth."

Col 1:13 NKJV He has delivered us from the power of

darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His

love,

Occurred According to Prophecy

1. Already seen a glimpse of Daniel 2

2. Isa 2:2-3 NKJV Now it shall come to pass in the

latter days That the mountain of the LORD's house

Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And

shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall

flow to it. (3) Many people shall come and say,

"Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the

LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will

teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths."

For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of

the LORD from Jerusalem.

Occurred According to Prophecy

Joe 2:28-32 NKJV "And it shall come to pass afterward That

I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your

daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams,

Your young men shall see visions. (29) And also on My

menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My

Spirit in those days. (30) "And I will show wonders in the

heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.

(31) The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon

into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day

of the LORD. (32) And it shall come to pass That whoever

calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount

Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the

LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

God Planned for the Church

Eph 3:9-11 NKJV and to make all see

what is the fellowship of the mystery,

which from the beginning of the ages has

been hidden in God who created all

things through Jesus Christ; (10) to the

intent that now the manifold wisdom of

God might be made known by the church

to the principalities and powers in the

heavenly places, (11) according to the

eternal purpose which He accomplished

in Christ Jesus our Lord,

God Gave the Keys to Man

Matthew 16:16-19 NASB Simon Peter answered, “You are

the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus said to

him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and

blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in

heaven. 18 I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this

rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not

overpower it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of

heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been

bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have

been loosed in heaven.”

God Paid for the Church

John 3:16,17

Act 20:28 NKJV Therefore take heed to

yourselves and to all the flock, among which

the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to

shepherd the church of God which He

purchased with His own blood.

Originated With Power

Act 1:8 NKJV But you shall receive

power when the Holy Spirit has come

upon you; and you shall be witnesses to

Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and

Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Act 2:14-16 NKJV But Peter, standing up with the eleven,

raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who

dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my

words. (15) For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it

is only the third hour of the day. (16) But this is what was

spoken by the prophet Joel:

Act 2:22-24 NKJV "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus

of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles,

wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your

midst, as you yourselves also know— (23) Him, being

delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of

God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and

put to death; (24) whom God raised up, having loosed the

pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be

held by it.

Act 2:32-36 NKJV This Jesus God has raised up, of which

we are all witnesses. (33) Therefore being exalted to the

right hand of God, and having received from the Father the

promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you

now see and hear. (34) "For David did not ascend into the

heavens, but he says himself: 'THE LORD SAID TO MY

LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, (35) TILL I MAKE

YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL." ' (36) "Therefore

let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made

this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

Act 2:37-39 NKJV Now when they heard this, they were cut

to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,

"Men and brethren, what shall we do?" (38) Then Peter said

to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the

name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall

receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) For the promise is to

you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many

as the Lord our God will call."

Act 2:40-41 NKJV And with many other words he testified

and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse

generation." (41) Then those who gladly received his word

were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were

added to them.
