INSIDE This Issue All Over Again “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” John 21:25 I like to read. Typically, as soon as I’m done with one book, I immediately find another. This process is helped by the fact that I typically have multiple books already purchased awaiting my attention. It’s this way for me with lots of genres, too. Along with the expected ministerial aids, theological examinations, and general biblical studies, I like to mix in some fiction, memoirs, and, naturally, comic books. (They have words in them, too.) Over the years, there are some books I’ve revisited. It never ceases to amaze me how new details seem to emerge when giving it a second look. After all, it was there the first time, but another viewing might yield new insights not observed the first go around. A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Board of Ministers meeting at Campbell Divinity which coincides with the Spring lecture series. Our speaker for the day commented that, in all his years of studying scripture, he still continues to discover new things. In fact, he remarked that it continues to surprise him after 30 years of ministry, which has given him numerous opportunities to read the Bible through and through, there are still words and ideas that jump out to make the text speak fresh and new all over again. That passage from John has always been a favorite of mine. Over the years, I’ve pondered the other details of Jesus’ life that haven’t been documented. Even in that verse, which emphasizes the events of Jesus’ life absent from scripture, there is plenty to keep us occupied. I’m sure many of you have found that repeated readings of scripture continue to draw out new information, understandings, and insights. Knowing this, it’s a reminder that scripture continues to amaze, inspire, and challenge. It reinforces that the words contained on those pages connect us with a living Savior. Maybe you’ll discover something new. Maybe you’ll remember something that you learned before, but haven’t thought of in some time. It might seem fresh and new all over again. —Trent Sessoms a monthly newsletter of a monthly newsletter of a monthly newsletter of a monthly newsletter of Knightdale Baptist Church Knightdale Baptist Church Knightdale Baptist Church Knightdale Baptist Church P1 All Over Again P2 April Anniversaries and Birthdays P2 List of Deacons P2 Baptist Knights P2 Bridal Shower P3 Love Connection P3 Children’s Schedules for April P3 Ushers for April P3 Wedding Shower P4 Letter from Finance Committee P5 April Calendar P5 Thank You P6 Youth Events P6 Backpack Buddies P7 Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal P7 Blood Drive P7 Alzheimer’s Seminar P7 Community Outdoor Cinema Series P8 Annual Spaghetti Lunch and Auction P8 Staff Volume 10, Issue 4 2013

All Over Again

“Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” John 21:25 I like to read. March 2013 Dear Church Family, We are sending this letter to inform you of the financial situation of our church. In order to fulfill our financial obligations during the past 7 months, we have had to transfer money from the Money Market Account to the Regular Operating Account. These trans-fers have totaled $35,900.00, which averages about $5,130.00 each month. If we con-tinue at this rate, we will deplete our reserves in the Money Market Account in approxi-mately 9-10 months. As of March 20, 2013, the Money Market balance was $47,370.00 (+/-), and the recommended minimum balance to maintain in this account is $75,000.00. We need $27,630.00 (+/-) to make up for this shortage. Here is the bad news related to weekly budget giving: we are approximately 20% short of meeting our goal each week. Here is the good news: due to the continued faithfulness and generosity of KBC members, we are ONLY 20% short. To solve this problem, the Finance Committee is challenging each member to increase their weekly giving by 20%. If you are now giving $20/week, then for the next 52 weeks give $24/week. If you are not currently giving on a regular basis, we challenge you to prayerfully consider do-ing so. If everyone accepts the challenge and gives consistently, we’ll meet our budget. If we increase our giving by 30%, we’ll soon be able to replenish the Money Market Ac-count. We want to continue to do great things for the Lord in Knightdale. In fact, we want to do more than ever before. To do this we need for everyone to be fully committed to doing God’s work. Now that we have planted the seed, we know that God will give the increase (1st Cor. 3:7). Pray that God will direct you and others in the church regarding tithes and offerings. Accept the challenge and increase your giving by 20%. Most importantly, please be in prayer for KBC and the financial situation we are currently facing. Sincerely, Finance Committee

Youth News

April 1 - Second Coming Day

April 1 marks the third annual Second Coming Day. This event commemorates the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Jesus has come for a third time and we await his arrival for a fourth straight year in a row. He usually reveals himself to little children and those with great faith, as of a small seed. Pray that God would reveal him to your eyes. If you do see Jesus, be sure to let Pastor Trent know so you can claim your prize. For those of you who think I'm off my rocker, be sure to check the date.

DNOW - April 12-14

April brings us the great opportunity to work together with two other youth groups to be changed by God. DNOW, which stands for Discipleship NOW, is a conference meant to interrupt the everyday. It is the event to participate in while you're waiting for the next big thing. It's a chance to get away without actually getting away. The youth

will stay in host homes and convene at Faith Baptist for most of the events. We will hear from speakers who work with the poor and needy at ground zero. It will begin with a prayer experience that is meant to kick-start a weekend of wrestling with God. It will challenge us all and reward us greatly. Make sure to ask the youth about their experience. They will certainly have a lot to share about.

Easter Drama

Benson Grove Baptist Church puts on an Easter drama that the youth will have taken part in. It is very realistic and impacting. I attended last year and was very moved by their performance. Often times it seems that in reading the Bible, scenes just cut from one scene to the next. In watching this presentation I gained an appreciation for how the real life events of our Savior might have happened. This evokes emotion in us, especially when we not only imagine the results of the words on the page, but also hear the whip crack, smell the perfume of death, and

actually see the empty tomb. No presentation is without its faults, but this Easter drama portrays the events so well that the Bible comes alive right before you. And thanks to the good folks of Benson Grove, the whole thing is free.

Family Fun Night - April 19

We will have a family fun night April 19 at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your favorite game to play for what is sure to be a blast. We will have a great night together. Invite friends out to this fellowship event and bring your competitive spirit. It should prove to be a great time for all ages. There may be prizes and food available. Ask Pastor Joe about either helping with this or participating in the event.
