From Kuala $umpur,Kuantan is a bree%y two!and!half hour away on the scenic &ast Coast

&'pressway (&C&) *lternati+ely, there are !- daily flights from K$.* to Kuantan *irport

(K/*) on alaysia *irlines (") /nfortunately, *ir*sia (*K) does not fly to Kuantan

DESCRIPTION:

.f there is a +ote on which beach is more popular on the &ast Coast of alaysia, Teluk

Chempedak will definitely rank head!to!head with the well!known Pantai Cherating

*ffectionately known simply as TC by the locals, Teluk Chempedak is the closest beach

attraction for the city of half!a!million dwellers "ence, it is not uncommon to see the beach

is filled with e+ening strollers, kite flyers,windsurfersand e+en swimmers

Teluk Chempedak can be considered to be +ery fashionable To me,the beachitself is rather

a+erage, with run!of!the!mill beach sands and somewhat murky waters 2et, the beach hosts

3uite a number of eating joints and night clubs that are well patronised by locals and outsiders

alike Taking on the prime spot is a c4onald5s outletwhich has recently been reno+ated to

feature bigger dining areas and fresh al frescodesign in a brightly painted building #ightbefore the entrance to "yatt #egency #esort is another popular outlet called Palm 6each

6istrohoused in a fancy thatched!roof caf7 fronting the beautiful beach Further from the

beach are a number of eateries and night clubs housed in a row of old shophouses that ha+e

been tastefully reno+ated

4uring my +isit to Teluk Chempedak after a one!day conference at "yatt #egency #esort, .

found the beach to be relati+ely 3uiet on a weekday . noticed that there were plenty of open

spaces on the beach with serene +iew of the 8outh China 8ea &+ery few seconds, one stroller

would pass along on the nicely!landscaped footpath Tran3uility was the order of the day

9h yes, the beach is also known for the common long!tailed maca3uesthat inhabit the area

8adly, they seemed to be more interested in scouring the trash bins that can be found aplenty

on the beach . do hope they do not rely so much on lefto+er food thrown away by the beach

patrons The long!tailed maca3ueswere rather harmless and a number of +isitors were seen

trying to get photographs of these adorable creatures

MY VERDICT:

* beautiful and tran3uil beach, pro+ided the weekend crowds are not there * great selection

of outdoor dining outlets as well as night clubs
