The Bayeux Tapestry shows the Normans invading England. Before they invaded, the language of
England was mainly Germanic Old English.
The Bayeux Tapestry is a piece of embroidered linen, about 70 metres long. It tells a story in
pictures, with words in Latin. It was probably made by some ladies in Canterbury not long after 1066.
You can still see the tapestry in a museum in Bayeux in Normandy.
