Justin King, Pastor
Dear Church Family,
As we get adjusted to a new year, I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about some of the exciting things
that will be impacting our church life in the days ahead. As some of you have already experienced, Katie and I have host-
ed the first of our Winter Welcomes and we are eagerly awaiting the next four! It is our desire that these times of fellow-
ship would help in reestablishing friendships and aid in the creation of new ones as we strive to be the body united under
the love of Christ. These Winter Welcomes are not designed with any agenda or purpose other than simply taking time to
come together and fellowship. As difficult as our lives can be and as crowded as our schedules are, we have set these
times aside with the expressed purpose of meeting with and investing into the members and guests of our church!
Aside from the Winter Welcomes, the big news of the New Year revolves around our new unified service schedule.
Starting Sunday, March 27, Easter Sunday, we will enter into a 3 month period of intentional unified services. Our ser-
vice schedule starting that date (see below) will be brand new and will try to address some of the issues that we have
faced in the past. Our focus in this is two-fold.
First, this stems from obedience to the command of the Lord. Our God has called us to unity in holiness. The exhorta-
tion from Philippians 2:1-5 really highlights our intentions here.
1 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the
Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same
love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind
regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but
also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
If it is our sincere desire to be the church as the Lord created and calls us to be, then we need to begin to focus on the
things that unite us instead of focusing on the things that separate us. There is no more room for preferences or personal
agendas. Now is the time to strive toward unity as the Lord and His Word compel us!
The second aspect of this new worship schedule is rooted in a desire to be more efficient with our time and efforts so
that we are more able to be involved in active ministry outside the walls of the church.
Since I have been serving as your pastor, we have been involved in many things that have a tremendous impact in our
community for Christ; however, we have also seen many opportunities pass us by. If we can begin to focus our efforts into
one service instead of two, that will allow us more time, money, and energy to be actively involved in evangelism and out-
reach ministries in our community.
I want you to know that the adjustments we are going to be making are not changes for the sake of change, they are
changes for the sake of the Kingdom of God. In order for us to be faithful in the things that the Lord has called us to, we
must be willing to sacrifice and adapt our lives to His calling. It is my prayer that you will also be prayerfully focused and
spiritually committed as we lead up to Easter, seeking the leadership of the Lord each time we meet. Let us take encour-
agement once more from Paul’s letter to the church in Philippi. Philippians 1:27
27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain
absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the
gospel
I count it a high privilege to serve as your pastor, and look forward to what the Lord has in store for us in the days
ahead. We will encounter spiritual battles for the Evil One is set out for destruction, but let us take hope in Christ, our
Savior and Redeemer, to provide a way for us to succeed as we faithfully follow Him!
In Christ,
Bro. Justin
