Since opening 50 years ago, St. JudeChildren’s Research Hospital haschanged the way the world treatschildhood cancer and other life-threat-ening diseases. No family ever pays St.Jude for the care their child receivesand, for every child treated here, thou-sands more have been saved world-wide through St. Jude discoveries. Thehospital has played a pivotal role inpushing U.S. pediatric cancer survivalrates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Can-cer Institute-designated Comprehen-sive Cancer Center devoted to chil-dren. It is also a leader in the researchand treatment of blood disorders andinfectious diseases in children. St.Jude was founded by the late enter-tainer Danny Thomas, who believedthat no child should die in the dawn oflife. Join that mission by visitingstjude.org or following us on face-book.com/stjude andtwitter.com/stjude.
