All proceeds will go to the Hoover Hope Foundation, which provides assistance to pediatric patients and their families while undergoing treatment for cancer. The Hoover Run for Hope was founded in remembrance of former BA student (class of 2011) and friend, Liam Hoover, who lost his battle with cancer at age 12 in 2005. Homecoming Movie Night Thank you to the 350 students who attended movie night last week. They raised $1359 for Hoover Hope Foundation. We appreciate their participation and support! BA Campus Tours for Admission Campus tours are offered every Tuesday and Wednesday when school is in session. Please consider inviting families (you may join them for the tour) who would find our mission the right fit for their child. Tours begin in the middle school (north campus entrance) at 8:30 AM and last about an hour. No reservation is necessary. Sixth Annual Hoover Run for HopeNovember 6 beginning at Kenrose Elem.

The class of 2011 has selected the Hoover Hope Foundation as the school wide service project. Groups are encouraged to form a team for the 6th annual Hoover Run for Hope. To register, please visit www.hooverhope.org and follow the instructions to register for $25. Volunteers are needed and can also get more information on the website. All proceeds will go to the Hoover Hope Foundation, which provides assistance to pediatric patients and their families while undergoing treatment for cancer. The Hoover Run for Hope was founded in remembrance of former BA student (class of 2011) and friend, Liam Hoover, who lost his battle with cancer at age 12 in 2005.

Application Reminders - Seniors are required to apply to at least one school by the end of October. All other applications must be completed by December 1. Transcript request forms must be completed in the College Office at least two weeks prior to the college’s deadline.

Acceptance Letter Reminders - Seniors are reminded to give your college counselor a copy of ALL admission and scholarship letters you receive from the colleges to which you apply. These letters include offers of admission as well as wait list, deferral, and denial decisions.

Junior Notes - The MANDATORY Junior College Meeting for Parents and Students will be held on Tuesday, November 16, at 6:30 PM in the Dining Hall. Juniors should be registered and active in their Naviance Family Connection accounts before the Junior College Meeting.

Financial Air Workshop (for Junior and Senior families) - On Monday, November 22, the Director of Financial Aid from Furman University will be at BA to talk to junior and senior parents about applying for need-based financial assistance, the FAFSA, and the TN Hope Lottery Scholarship. The program will be held at 6:30 PM in the Dining Hall.

Sophomore Notes - The class College Meeting for Parents and Students will be held on Tuesday, January 11 at 6:30 PM in the Dining Hall.

College Coffees for Upper School Parents - Thank you for making our first ever College Coffee a success!! As you continue to be struck by questions regarding testing, class schedules, colleges, and more, please feel free to Take a Coffee Break with us on the remaining Wednesday mornings this school year: November 17, February 2, and March 30. Drop in any time between 7:00-8:30 AM on these mornings, and let us help you address college-related questions.

BA DadsBA Dads Book Study - Treat Me Like a Customer, Using Lessons from Work to Succeed in Life, is the BA Dads book study on Tuesday mornings through November 16 from 7:00 - 7:45 AM in the BA Board Room. This is a great book dealing with the importance of giving priority to your family while managing your work life and it is not too late to join us. This week we are looking at chapters 4-6. Book study facilitators are Alan Whorton, Don Dilucchio and Mark McFerran. Whether you can attend or would just like to read the book on your own, books are available for $15 by emailing [email protected].

BA Dads Friday Coffee Stops continue each Friday morning from 7:00 - 8:00 AM under the red tent at the soccer parking lot. In case of rain, we will meet in the Fine Arts Center Lobby.

BA Dads Bucksnort Retreat is November 6, 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM, at a private farm in Bucksnort, TN. This event starts at the Bucksnort Farm at Noon. A 5:30 PM grilled chicken dinner by the Butts Brothers will be served, then a ToeRoaster Campfire Concert by Bryan and Gordon Kennedy at 6:45 PM. This is a 60-minute drive to the farm with carpools leaving as early as 10:00 AM with lunch at Rudy’s. The cost is $25 and includes a souvenir t-Shirt. Sign up at [email protected].

AthleticsUS Hockey - Franklin defeated Ensworth/BA (10-1). Goal - Peacock (1); Saves - Spires (32). FRA/USN defeated Ensworth/BA (8-4). Goals - Rice (2), Srebnick (1), Burch (1); Assists - Nordlund (1); Saves: Allyn (31).

Cross Country - Congratulations to Savannah Koehn, Faith Whatley, and Courtney Fadler for finshing 5th, 6th, and 7th in the BA/HH JV dual meet. Each earned a special commemorative t-shirt for placing in the top ten.

ESBN - Copies of all varsity football games, including halftime performances, are available on DVD for $10 in the External Affairs office. All the special presentations during the win over McCallie are included in this week’s DVD: Senior Recognition, Alumni Military, Law Enforcement and Emergency Personnel recognition, the combined cheerleaders and dancers performance and the homecoming court.

Varsity Football - At home on Friday against JPII for first round of the playoffs. No reserved parking or seating. All attending must purchase ticket. Advanced ticket sales are in the upper school office.

Spiritual Life12th Grade Moms’ Bible Study meets on Thursdays from 9:30-11:15 AM at the home of Mary Hinson. If you cannot make it to the study, on occasion we will also go to lunch together. Contact a Grade Mom to get on the list to be texted when and where we will meet for lunch!

11th Grade Moms’ Bible Study meets on Tuesdays, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, at the home of Mrs. Emily Tulloch. Please feel free to join us as your schedule allows.

10th Grade Moms’ Bible Study meets on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM at the home of Mrs. Gwen Amorim to discuss Priscilla Shirer’s book Discerning the Voice of God. Books are available for purchase. Afterwards we meet for lunch at BagelWorks & Perks in Maryland Farms.

9th Grade Moms’ Bible Study meets on Thursday from 8:00 - 9:30 AM at the home of Becky Cowart. We will be using the devotional book, Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young, as our guide, available for purchase at Lifeway Bookstore. Please join us at any time.

8th Grade Moms’ Bible Study meets on Tuesdays at 9:30 AM at the home of Laura Burkhart. We are reading The Five Love Languages of Teenagers. Please join us anytime.

7th Grade Moms’ Bible Study is held on Wednesdays from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the Connection Center Café at Brentwood Baptist Church. The book we are using, Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free, can be purchased at the Bible Study. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tiffie Rosen or Mrs. Judith Johnson.

6th Grade Mom’s Bible Study meets on Wednesdays at 1:45 PM at the home of Mrs. Laura Waldrop. We are discussing Women of the Bible and praying over the 6th graders and faculty. Please join us even if you haven’t been before.

Toiletries for Room in the Inn - Mrs. Fadler’s advisory is collecting travel size toiletries through the end of November. Please drop items off in Mrs. Fadler’s room in the MS Room 321.

Summer 2011 Creation Vacation - June 5-10 will be the fifth annual Creation Vacation to Orlando, FL. We will be going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Sea World. This trip is open to all 6th graders. For more information contact Mr. Berger.

Summer 2011 Thrill Seekers Trip - June 20-24 will be the fourth annual Thrill Seekers Trip. We will be going to King’s Island, Cleveland Indians game, Niagara Falls, and Cedar Point along with many other stops along the way. This trip is open to all 8th graders. Summer 2011 Wild West Tour - The BA Outdoors Club is sponsoring this trip tentatively set for June 6 - 14. Family LifeRaising Happiness: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents - The Community Foundation of Middle TN presents the 11th Annual Edna S.
