The shift.

Previously, passive safety test performance differentiated

the good from the bad.

This differentiation point has shifted now to active safety –

Safety Assist Technology (SAT).

Future requirements:

Future assessments.

New performance testing

• Electronic stability control (ESC)

• Speed assist systems (SAS)

• Lane support systems (LSS)

• Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)

Updated physical crash tests

• Side impact test (heavier, stiffer, wider barrier + WorldSID dummy)

• Pedestrian test (new FlexPLI lower leg impactor + updates to upper leg test)

New physical crash tests

• Full-width frontal test (50 km/h)

• Oblique side pole test (>32 km/h)

Summary.

• We have come a long way.

• Car structures are now good - our focus has shifted.

• SAT will be the key to a huge reduction in road trauma.

• De-specification is occurring.

• ANCAP will commence its transition to alignment with Euro NCAP

from next year.

Improved consumer information.

...the focus has now shifted.
