The shift.
Previously, passive safety test performance differentiated
the good from the bad.
This differentiation point has shifted now to active safety –
Safety Assist Technology (SAT).
Future assessments.
New performance testing
• Electronic stability control (ESC)
• Speed assist systems (SAS)
• Lane support systems (LSS)
• Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)
Updated physical crash tests
• Side impact test (heavier, stiffer, wider barrier + WorldSID dummy)
• Pedestrian test (new FlexPLI lower leg impactor + updates to upper leg test)
New physical crash tests
• Full-width frontal test (50 km/h)
• Oblique side pole test (>32 km/h)

from next year.
