Facts about the attack• The attack on Pearl Harbor came without warning on December 7th of 1941.• The attack lasted from 7:55 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. (1 hour and 50 minutes)• A total of 2,335 U.S. servicemen (Navy and Air Force) were killed and 1,143

were wounded. 68 civilians were also killed and 35 were wounded.• The Japanese lost 65 men total, with an additional soldier being captured.• Pearl Harbor was the home to a United States naval base.• The attack on Pearl Harbor brought the United States into World War II.• U.S. battleships docked there were either sunk or damaged during the

attack. Amazingly, all but two (the Arizona and the Oklahoma) were eventually able to return to active duty.

• The Arizona, one of the most popular ships to be sunk during the attack, and still one of the most famous and remembered ships to this day, exploded when a bomb penetrated its forward magazine (otherwise known as the ammunition room). Approximately 1,100 U.S. servicemen died on board.
