TowballsThe most widely used link between the vehicle and trailer. They come in several different versions and are fixed to the towbar using hi-tensile bolts which must be tightened to the correct torque setting. This torque setting can be found on the manufacturers fitting instructions.

Helpful AdviceStraight shank towballs are used where a single vertical hole is used on the towbar. This type of attachment is commonly found on garden tractors, ATV’s, forklifts, dumpers and American vehicles.

The 2” towball used in America is not legal in this country and must be replaced with a 50mm version.

Stops misuse The operator is never in a position to attempt towing with something other than the correct pin

Saftey paramount Due to the design of the jaw it is not possible to partially engage/lock the Autojaw. It is either locked or it will leave the trailer behind at take-off point.

Secure Security locking facility to be used in conjunction with a standard Bradley barrel lock. This is designed to be in place whilst towing.

Fully type approved In conforming to EC Directive 94/20, Autojaw needs to have two mechanical locking mechanisms. It has three when the security barrel lock is used as well!

ShocklinkThe shocklink moves in a vertical plane and uses coil springs with rubber inserts to absorb the shocks transmitted down the vehicle towbar, resulting in a smoother ride, relieving driver and passenger fatigue and reducing potential damage to the caravan or trailer.

The shocklink is designed to fit onto either the Dixon Bate adjustable bracket or, by using the adaptor plate, to towbars which have a 4 bolt fixing. It is pre-drilled with coupling holes to BSAu 114a, which will not only accept 50mm Towballs, Universal Couplings or Towing Jaws, but also most of the stabilizers currently on the market.

The shocklink Mark 2 is designed for vehicles up to 2800kg Gross Vehicle Weight towing a maximum of 3500kg Gross Trailer Weight and is recommended by many leading 4x4 vehicle and caravan manufacturers.

Flexitow

The Flexitow is a mounting designed to alleviate the problems caused when towing a light trailer (up to 3500kg GVW) behind rigidly sprung commercial vehicles. The flexitow is targetted at any commercial vehicle operator who tows such a trailer, trailer mounted plant and equipment or a caravan. When using a trailer ball mounted directly on the chassis or via a drop plate, very often, excessive damage and premature wear is caused to the trailer coupling and towing equipment. This is because most commercial vehicles have a very hard suspension which transmits strong vibrations via the towball reducing its service life.The Flexitow mounting is based on the well proven flexiride suspension unit. This fully bonded rubber suspension is a very tough and reliable product used in many countries for varied applications. Rubber, used in torsion, as opposed to compression, is bonded to both the centre shaft and housing to provide a unit that is completely sealed and free from ingress of water. This unit is attached to the towing vehicle and acts as a damper between the towing vehicle and the trailer coupling eliminating the harsh vibration.

Vehicle Specific Wiring KitsVehicle technology has advanced rapidly with the introduction of CAN, ABS, ESP and the Trailer Stability Programme. This has necessitated the need for the development of vehicle specific wiring kits. These kits have been designed specifically for each individual vehicle and work in conjunction with vehicle manufacturers’ own user benefits and safety features such as fog cut out and parking sensor cut out. They connect directly to the vehicle manufacturers’ recommended electrical connection points and this ensures total peace of mind from the risk of electrical system damage caused by installers. All harnesses are built utilising the latest technology, many in direct liaison with the vehicle manufacturers. Using vehicle specific wiring harnesses not only reduces installation time on many vehicles, but subsequently the module utilised within the kit interacts with the vehicle whilst towing, ensuring that systems such as the Trailer Stability Program work correctly.
