Goshala, the cow shelter that breeds and protects more than 300 cows of indigenous species, is a case study for several experts in the dairy business and a learning experience for others. Using traditional methods, the shelter uses bovine by-products to manufac-ture organic, chemical-free pesticides and fertilizers, and encourages local farmers to revert to successful,envi-ronment-friendly and low-cost farm-ing methods.

Indian Ashram. On an average 15,000 meals are prepared every day for pro-
gram/conference participants and ashram residents. The kitchen is run entirely
by volunteers, just as the rest of the ashram. Solar panels are also used for steam
cooking at the kitchen).
