The Appoggiatura All the Chorale News that will fit Vol. 1 No. 9 (MA) Sarma Eglite (A2) had her first virtual piano lesson on May 25 and already has become an international celebrity. Sarma was at a point where I suggested she play a piece for a friend. She and members of her family and friends took it a step further. She gave a zoom recital and her family in toronto got dressed up for the occasion as did she. What a fun family this must be. She gave a perfect rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” and then on her own she played and harmonized a latvian folk song. (sarma’s day job is being the pastor of the latvian lutheran church in lakewood.) Best quote of the zoom broadcast was her brother’s girlfriend who said “is that all?” after sarma finished. The chorale is offering free piano lessons to any member who is a beginner.
