2.14 Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC
1. Purchase order was issued by the library after taking necessary demands from respective
departments:
i) About 556 text books
ii) 45 reference books were purchased
iii) 05 CD’s were purchased by the College Library
2. ICT equipment purchased as per order of the College Authority:
i) 4 desktops were purchased
ii) A scanner was purchased
3. A refrigerator worth Rs.13, 800/- was purchased for the Department of Botany as per
order issued by the College Authority.
4. Public address system for the auditorium was procured as per order issued by the
College Authority.
5. The Zoology Department was provided with an AC machine worth Rs. 56,606/- as per
order issued by the College Authority.
6. Blood donation Camp, Annual Cultural Meet & Annual Sports meet was organized with
the help of Students’ Union. 7. For filling up of vacant substantive post of teachers, steps were taken to intimate DPI,
College Education, Govt. of West Bengal & The West Bengal College Service
Commission.
2.15 Plan of Action by COLLEGE AUTHORITY / Outcome
The plan of action chalked out by the College Authority in the beginning of the year towards
Quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year 2008-09

Plan: Filling up of vacant posts of teachers of various departments
Outcomes: Four posts of Assistant Professors were filled up and thus teaching learning
process was enhanced.

Plan: Procurement of text & reference books for the College Library.
Outcomes: Books were purchased & thus teaching-learning process infrastructure was
enhanced.
Plan: Procurement of desktop and ICT-based Instruments for the College Library & Office.
Outcomes:Betterment of infrastructure occurred.
Plan: Improving the infrastructural facility of the Botany Department through purchase of a
refrigerator.
Outcomes: Teaching-Learning process & Infrastructure enhanced.
Plan: Provision of internet facility to eight departments and to College Library.
Outcomes: The teaching learning process was enhanced.
Plan: Improvement of infrastructural facility at the College Auditorium through procurement
of a Public Address system.

6.10 What efforts are made by the University to promote autonomy in the
affiliated / constituent colleges ?
No initiative was taken for Autonomy.
6.11 Activities and support from the Alumni Association
College has a vibrant Alumni Association which holds weekly meeting and
thus keep track of past students.
6.12 Activities and support from the Parents – Teacher Association
Periodic meeting with parents were held in various departments.
6.13 Development programmes for support staff
Supply of dresses to Group-D staff and aprons for Laboratory attendants.

6.14 Initiatives taken by the institution to make the campus eco-friendly
The College has a campus which is jointly owned by three colleges and therefore it is
virtually impossible to take solo effort to make the campus eco-friendly unless jointly
coordinated move is undertaken in this regard.
The IQAC however has the following plan for eco-friendliness.
Use of efficient lighting arrangements, LED or CFL instead of normal fluorescent tube
lights.
Periodic monitoring of consumption of electricity units.
Making students and staff aware regarding the judicious use of electricity and water.
Plans are also there to install roof top rainwater and solar power harvesting.
Efforts are also there for introducing features of carbon neutrality and hazardous waste
management.

7. Innovations and Best Practices
7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year which have created a
positive impact on the functioning of the institution. Give details.
7.2Provide the Action Taken Report (ATR) based on the plan of action decided
upon at the beginning of the year
1. Purchase order was issued by the library after taking necessary demands
from respective departments. About 556 text books, 45 reference books
and 05 CD’s were purchased by the College Library. 2. ICT equipment as 4 desktops & one scanner worth Rs. 1,46,060/- was
purchased by the College.
3. A refrigerator worth Rs.13, 800/- was purchased for the Department of
Botany as per order issued by the College Authority.
4. Public address system for the auditorium was procured as per order
issued by the College Authority.
5. The Zoology Department was provided with an AC machine worth Rs.
56,606/- as per order issued by the College Authority.
6. Blood donation Camp, Annual Cultural Meet & Annual Sports meet was
organized with the co-operation of Teacher’s Council & Students’ Union.
7. Steps were taken by the editorial board to have ISSN for the Bangabasi
Academic Journal, wherein teaching faculty and PG (Zoology) students
contribute.
8. For filling up of vacant substantive post of teachers, steps were taken to
intimate DPI, College Education, Govt. of West Bengal & The West
Bengal College Service Commission.

Empowerment towards ICT infrastructure and ICT based teaching learning
process.
