What happens at an Embroi-dery Party?
The Embroidery events are struc-
tured using a team sewing environ-
ment, so our partygoers not only
learn from their specially trained ed-
ucator, but also from each other!
This also gives everyone a chance to
get hands-on experience when cre-
ating their projects! Partygoers re-
ceive not only the designs taught in
class, but also additional designs for
them to stitch
at home in-
cluded with
their full-color
tutorial
books!
There are
SEW many perks when you attend
our Embroidery Party! You'll be go-
ing home with a printed tutorial
book with step-by-step instructions
for multiple projects we learn about,
as well as a design CD with over 40
designs - more than ever! You'll also
receive special pricing on all prod-
ucts at the event and get to see
some sneak peeks of new collec-
tions they have coming out. It's a
great chance to experience
embroidery with hands-on learning
while having a TON of fun!
Remember When
The event will be Saturday, August
12 and Sunday, August 13, at the
Mega Education Center! The cost
of the event is $99. Space is limited,

At the time of this publication of “Sew Abbey News”, I am unhappy to tell you that two important, long-time machine retailers have closed this year. Worse, due to faceless internet providers, there are no new sewing stores or entrepreneurs willing to take on the responsibility of owning and operating a full service sewing machine store. This small group of sewing enthusiasts and retailers must unite in solidarity in or-der to preserve the joy of sewing for generations to come. I urge all concerned consumers to think about your sewing community and what is best for those who may inherit your sewing machine; or better yet, the creative joy of sewing. A purchase in our store or a different neighbor-hood store is a vote for our community and fellowship. Every purchase on the faceless internet only weakens the sustainability of the communi-ty of sewing. Enthusiasts like you and me need to grow and share the art and joy of sewing. When you make a purchase, in a store like Ab-bey Sewing Centers for even a spool of thread, you are with good con-scious promoting the positive influence of sewing for the community and future generations to come. At Abbey Sewing Centers, our goal is to continue to improve as we provide excellent service, instruction and prices for the community we serve. We thank you for your loyalty and business,
Sew Abbey

Did you know? • Did you know that rotary cutter’s blades are surgical steel
blades? The cutter can cut 8 layers of fabric and through
finger tips, nails, top of feet, and tendons. Please close
your blade after each use, when you go to set it down!
This is particularly important when you are not the only
one using the cutter or the mat. Also, a dull blade can cut
just as badly as a brand new blade. If you have to saw
with your cutter, change your blade! So when you hear
someone say “ CLOSE THE BLADE,” we are trying to keep
everyone safe!
• Remember to periodically clear any lint from the bobbin
case of your machine. A well-maintained machine is one
that will provide years and years of trouble-free sewing.
One easy way to regularly take care of this routine
maintenance is to clean the machine after you have emp-
tied five bobbins (keep empty bobbins together so you
know). Change your needle every 8—10 hours. For pro-
fessional maintenance, we recommend a regular cleaning
once a year. Choose one month a year and regularly take
your machine in for a “spa” day during that month each
year.
• To all the Fathers out there - Happy Father’s Day!
