AnderCares, Anderson’s corporate social responsibility division that coordinates community outreach initiatives throughout the year, hosted the Urban Prep Academies’ annual “Discover Our City” career day! “Discover Our City” is an event where the school’s more than 600 students visit different Chicago area businesses to observe excellence in the workplace.

On March 26th, students from Chicago’s Urban Prep Academy’s Englewood campus, a South Side all-male charter high school, visited Anderson to get a behind the scenes look on operating a company. Many Anderson coworkers stepped up to help teach the young students about the power of a career, education and the endless possibilities the future provides along with a surprise visit from the Insect Zoo, thanks to Mark Mayer of the Downers Grove Service Center.

2013 was indeed a challenge (in a good way) for all of us in Service Center 7 due to the influx of new business as well as some of the strange and unique pest problems we encountered. We had such an influx of new business that we had to get help from Technicians and Managers from Chicago Loop, Alsip, Chicago North, Wheeling, and Merrilville. We cannot begin to express our gratitude to all of you that helped us out this year. Over 130 days of work was completed by co-workers from other Service Centers. Without their willingness to pitch in, we would have been hard pressed to insure our customers received excellent and timely service. Thank you!

We have a seasoned crew of veterans as well as plenty of new blood ready to take on the day to day challenges our customers bring to us. Two of our veterans Reuben Roberts, arguably one of the best residential Technicians in the company, and Dan Burrow, whose attention to detail allows him to service many of our most challenging audited accounts, both celebrated 25 years with Anderson in 2014. Some of our other veterans include Jeromie Munoz, Rich Buric, Mark Mayer, Art Molitor, Ed Mitchell, and Terry Taraszka, who all have over 10 years with Anderson. Mark Mayer is also our resident entomologist and Anderson Insect Zoo keeper. Some of our new team members include: Matthew Scribano, Chris Ricciardi, Matthew Bolf, William James, Scott Marshall,

Jacqueline Valois, Jessica Bonet, Darrell Kelly and Jeremy Roesel.

Our Sales efforts are in great hands with 2012 Salesperson of the Year, Matt Scaliatine, who got engaged in 2013. Congratulations to Matt and his fiancée Kyrstin. Nobody can make those calls like Matt does. Luck is when preparedness meets opportunity, right Matt? 2013 also saw Technician Terry Taraszka get married.

A huge sigh of relief came from Aaron, Mark, and Jim K in November as we welcomed our new Service Manager, Matt Bolf to Service Center 7. We got him into the mix right away dealing with both commercial and residential pest problems and gave him a brand new Technician to work with right away. Only two months on the job and he learned about making Logbooks for 70 plus accounts. We love his energy, enthusiasm and attention to detail!

Through all the adversity faced in 2013, we still managed to laugh a lot and have fun. Although there is still a lot we want to accomplish, Service Center 7 has the best retention numbers for the past two years and our whole team is looking forward to improving our numbers in 2014.

Downers Grove Update

Anderson has adopted a new way to obtain bi-weekly paystubs and year-end tax statements. Effective with the paycheck dating Friday, March 7th, Anderson deployed their new Payroll Portal – iPay! iPay is operated through Anderson’s payroll provider, ADP. Through iPay, one shall be able to view and print all payroll statements and year-end tax statements. Paystubs will no longer be mailed unless one receives a live check. To view payroll information, one shall simply log into the Payroll Portal to view the details of one’s pay check. W-2 Statements; however, are required to be printed and mailed. One shall receive a paper copy, but, will still be able to view and print online.

It doesn’t end there, though. ADP offers a smart phone application. ADP Mobile can be downloaded on any smartphone. One can view the same information regarding pay on the ADP Mobile Application. Simply download the free application and

sign in with your iPay user ID and Password. Please note; one must physically create an iPay account on-line prior to using the mobile application. Another great feature of the mobile app is the ability to monitor your 401K. Simply click the Retirement icon and view the overall balance and performance of the individual 401K Plan.

The Anderson Payroll Portal will also offer a Welcome Page which will display upcoming events, news, and all benefit provider links. If you have any questions, please contact Marcia Daily at the Elmhurst Office – 630.834.3300 or via email at [email protected].

Alsip has the best looking office in the company? This can’t be true? Can it? Yes ladies and gentlemen, Service Center 4 is now newly renovated and looks better than ever! In November of 2013, construction began to maximize all of the space in the office and reveal a new company look. For two months our staff anxiously awaited the final product. Management had to buckle down and work out of the supply cage during this tumultuous time. After the New Year, our office was complete. Our supply cage nearly tripled in space and we now have three offices to work out of. The front room of the office is now extremely conducive for our group meetings. We also have a full size refrigerator! But that’s not all...

Released from the shackles of having brown water trickle out of the old slop sink, we now have an updated full size kitchen sink with clean refreshing water! Roger Peterson, JT Barnard, and

Mark O’Hara really went out of their way to make this happen for our team. We can’t thank you guys enough for the big upgrade!

We also have a lot going on with our staff as well. Jorge Porcayo, one of our new technicians, recently had a son. Noah Porcayo was born on November 1st 2013 at 9:00PM. Jorge is a big part of what were trying to do out here and we congratulate him on the newest addition to his family. Service Center 4 also received an upgrade at the technician position as well. Doug Johnson, who worked out the Loop for nearly 9 years, is now a part of the Alsip team! Doug came to us at the start of the New Year and we couldn’t be happier to have him on board. Doug brings a ton of knowledge and experience to our staff, which will really go a long way in helping some of our younger technicians grow. Happy to have you here Doug!

A New Look at Alsip

Employer-sponsored retirement plans are an excellent benefit – but they’re not complete without the education to go along with them.

That’s where the Edward Jones Employee Financial Education Program can help. Through educational seminars offered in the workplace, our program can help employees understand their choices and manage their savings, investments and retirement plans to build a better financial future. Employers that provide this service to employees can improve participation in employer-sponsored retirement plans, boost satisfaction and loyalty, enhance their benefits package and make their organization more attractive to job seekers.

Anderson Pest Solutions is pleased to announce that our HR Department and Edward Jones will be visiting every Service Center this May to talk about the company 401k plan and offer retirement planning education. All coworkers should plan to attend the retirement planning workshops.

It has been a long, cold winter for all of us, yet we have persevered and gotten off to a great start in 2014. Congratulations to Lanie Chabalowski, the 2013 Sales Person of the Year! Here are a few highlights for our team:

Alyssa Wied has persisted in the St. Louis office and is starting to see the success of her hard work. Earlier this year, she sold Suson Pines Apartment building for $420. She also signed two

apartment complexes on back to back days -- totaling $566 in monthly work.

After two years of countless meetings with multiple decision makers, Matt Scaliatine finally added West Suburban Hospital to Anderson’s client list. That’s $800 in monthly work for the Chicago North Service Center.

Thanks to the help of Marcia Daily, Ryan Field, and Joe Reeder, Anderson was awarded the bid of Olivet Nazarene University. Service began on March 7th and totals over $1,100 per month for the Merrillville office.

We would like to welcome Kristina Foldes to the Anderson family. Kristina comes to Anderson with a background in hotel management. She he has taken her great customer service skills and implemented them to make her an asset to our organization. She works out of the Loop office and is covers a territory that includes both the Loop and Alsip service areas. Please say hello to Kristina (and bring her cookies) next time you’re in her office!

Joe Piwowarczyk has pursued The New York Blower Company since June of 2013 when he started with Anderson. His efforts paid off when he signed them up in February for $222. In addition, Joe P also landed a school district in New Buffalo, Michigan - our first sale in the state of Michigan!

Sales Scoop

Client ServiceWe’ve had a great start to 2014! Our contact center is out of control! Starting in April 2014, clients setup on our Natural Choice Home program will automatically receive email or phone notifications during the month of their quarterly service. Our Client Service coworkers will no longer have to manually call, email, and change the color of the tickets. Not only will this new process free up our Customer Service Line, but our technician team will now be able to see dates the client received the phone or email message by viewing the “Location Instruction” field on the quarterly ticket, as the system automatically populates the date into this field. This new system will give our Client Service Representatives on average 40% of their time back. This means more time with our clients, technicians, answering incoming calls, which in turn will lead to more SALES!

We are also excited to announce and welcome our new seasonal co-workers. This year our seasonal co-workers are trained on our residential line only, allowing them to focus on our Natural Choice Home program and increasing our residential growth and retention. A special shout out to Cora Mayer and Maria Mayer for training our new hires this year! In the past our seasonal co-workers were training on both our residential and commercial accounts, which was a challenge learning both types of services in a short amount of time. Please take a moment the next time you are in the office and welcome Larice Baker, Tonya Banks, Eboni Hardy, Christine Jackson, Jennifer Long, Shakeena Parker, Natalie Smith, & Nicole Vaughn.

Congratulations to our Client Service co-worker of the year TaMyra Dawson! TaMyra was recognized for this outstanding award for her ability to close Natural Choice Sales, participating in our email pilot program, our HVAC roll out, one of the first team members to assist with answering escalated calls, and mentoring our new hires. Thank you TaMyra for all of your contributions in 2013!

On Saturday, April 5th, Anderson honored its 2013 Coworkers of the Year and Milestone Anniversary Achievers at a private Awards Dinner at Maggiano’s in Schaumburg. With over 80 individuals in attendance this year, all announced recipients along with a guest of their choice were invited to attend. The evening consisted of many honors to coworkers for their years of dedication and achievements. Over 20 coworkers were awarded for their Anderson Anniversaries of 5 years or more, recognizing their selfless loyalty to our company. The most notable of all of the Anniversaries goes to Jim Kaltinger and Neil Krummel with 35 years of Service and Charlie O’Hara for 40 years of service with Anderson.

Thirteen awards were given to coworkers who demonstrated outstanding service and sales throughout the entire year for their respective department. These individuals were hand selected for their relentless efforts, teamwork, cooperation, reliability and overall performance. The Technicians of the year include Luis Diaz, Joe Germait, Bobby Foster, Gary Bockhaut, Joel Rosales, Mike Wilson,

Steve Nolte, and Rey Hernandez. Chris Holt won the Service Manager of the year award. Lanie Chabalowski won the Sales Representative of the year while TaMyra Dawson snagged this year’s Client Services Representative of the year. In addition to those winners, Tracy Woulard won the first ever A/R Rep of the Year award.

As most of you will recall, last year we added a new level of recognition to award an individual that embodies the Spirit of our Culture through outstanding service and dedication. We have coined this honor “the President’s Award.” The recipient of this year’s President’s Award is Jon Novak from IT!

The night culminated with a raffle and the most coveted prize, a Chicago CityPASS for 4 people was awarded to Steve Nolte. Thank you to everyone who attended and we hope to see everybody again next year! A complete list of award winners, milestone achievers and raffle winners is listed on Page 7. Also, please check out Anderson’s Facebook page to view more photos from the night.
