Lunch and Learn: Tuesday, June 5th
In today’s world, driving a car may seem to be a necessary part of life, however, owning a vehicle and holding a
driver’s license are privileges that come with a great deal of responsibility. Join Michele Ellicks, Community
Outreach Coordinator for the Registry of Motor Vehicles on June 5th for an hour long program entitled, “Shifting
Gears.” Ms. Ellicks will discuss issues facing older drivers, rules of the road, recent changes that have taken
place at the RMV, as well as the warning signs of unsafe driving. She will share the requirements to apply for a
disabled parking placard or plate, as well as, a Massachusetts identification card and alternative forms of
transportation. Learn what’s available in your community. Portions of the program have been feature on
WCVB-TV’s “Chronicle” as well as in the Boston Globe. The program has received the Outstanding Public
Service Safety Award by the American Association of Motor Vehicles. Lunch of macaroni & cheese, salad,
roll, bread & butter and pineapple fluff, will be served for just $3.00 at 11:30 by Joyce and the kitchen volun-
teers. The program will start promptly at noon. Please sign up in the event book or call 781-585-0511 to re-
serve your spot.
Quilting/Quilt show:
During the month of June we will be finishing up our scheduled classes and looking forward to July and August
with an Open Classroom, called “Sew In”. As always, we will be displaying the results of our endeavors at our
Quilt Show scheduled for Thursday, June 21. Come and see the projects we have worked on and see the amazing
work our seniors have accomplished this year! Some things you can expect to see are: Information about the
quilts made for our Kingston Veterans, great little quilts for our homes incorporating scarecrows, turkeys and
rabbits (one for each season), a bargello quilt incorporating butterflies – astounding , a springtime flower pot for
our door, and our last project for the year, quilts for “Quilts for Kids”! Hope you will have time to stop by the
Activity Room June 21, 2018, 10:30 – 1:30.
Art Show:
See the amazing works and awards of the KCOA Artist Workshop on June 28, starting at 10:00am. Meet and
speak with the artists and instructor; Violet Berry. Violet’s husband, Patrick began an Oil Painting Class for
talented people who loved art, but never continued after High School. When Patrick passed away 15 years ago,
Violet decided to continue the class and is so happy she did! She has met so many wonderful and talented people.
If you are interested in joining, they would love to have you! This class is not a beginners class or social
gathering, but rather for people who want to learn in a relaxing, creative atmosphere. Please see Violet if you
have any questions.
Tom’s Lunch:
In honor of Father’s Day on June 19th at 11:30 am. Tom will be serving Mediterranean chicken, lemon olive
rice, vegetable ratatouille, a dinner roll, and chocolate fudge cake. Please sign up in the event book or call 781-

senior center with new hire, Darlene Regan, Community Outreach Worker. Darlene will be
helping us identify at-risk seniors in our community along with giving help on applications,
such as, SNAP and fuel assistance and some help with Medicare and referrals. Please introduce
yourself to Darlene the next time you are at the center, but do not be surprised if her office door
is closed with a scheduled appointment, or she may be out on a home visit or attending a
resource meeting. She is already a busy and popular woman! At this time Darlene is working
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. It is best to call ahead and make an appointment if you would
like some one on one time.
If Darlene is not available, we also have Elaine Buonvicino here once a month for two hours to
