„There‟s a sunrise and sunset every single day, and they are absolutely

free!!‟ So, this summer let‟s enjoy every sunrise, every sunset and

everything else that nature can offer in between.

School is out and summer camps start

And all of us feel bubbly at heart

Even at night it‟s warm and lazy

If you don‟t like summer, well YOU must be crazy!!

Swim in the pool, eat some ice cream

Stare at the clouds, get lost in a dream

Spin in the circles until your brain is hazy

If you don‟t like summer, well YOU MUST BE crazy!!

Go to the beach and build a castle

Or you and your friend in the sand can wrestle

Lie on the green grass, make a chain with a daisy

If you don‟t like summer, well YOU MUST BE CRAZY!!!

IF YOU DON’T LIKE SUMMER……

ACTIVITY 1: ‘HELLO FROM AFAR’

A postcard is a rectangular piece of thick paper or thin cardboard intended

for writing and mailing without an envelope. Shapes other than rectangular

may also be used. There are novelty exceptions, such as wood postcards,

made of thin wood, and coconut "postcards" from tropical islands. The

world's oldest postcard was sent in 1840 to the writer Theodore Hook from

Fulham in London, England. In India, the postcards were introduced in 1870.

The study and collecting of postcards is termed deltiology. A template is

given below. Have fun!

Instructions

Take any picture of your holiday destination of length: 4.5 inches, breadth: 3.5

inches and stick it on an ivory sheet of the same size.

On the other side of this ivory sheet, draw a line dividing it into two parts –one

part for the message, the other part for the address.

Write a small, brief message and address it to anyone you want. You can paste a

stamp or draw one for fun.

Keep this postcardin an envelope/file safely and bring it to school after vacation.

You could use the below given template or use any of your own ideas.

Activity 2: ‘CAPTURING SPECIAL MOMENTS’

Vacations create a lot of memories for all of us. Some days may be

more important or busier than the rest. It is a lot of fun to document some

of these days in daily journals. They give you a good insight into how you

spent your holidays and utilized your time. Using the formatgiven below

write about any two days of your vacations where your day has been

different from the rest of your days. You can even use the format given

below for your vacation memories. Add small drawings, clip arts,

different fonts and colours and make your logs more

creative!!

Activity 3: एक संवाद

ऱम्बी यात्रा के दौरान आप बहुत से ऱोगों को देखते हैं, ममऱते हैं। अपनी यात्रा के दौरान आप भी अनेक ऱोगों से ममऱे होंगे तथा उनसे बातचीत की होगी। उन विशषे यादों का एक A-४ शीट पर चचत्रों तथा सॊिादों द्िारा िर्णन कीजजए।

उदाहरर् के मऱए नीच ेकुछ और सॊिाद ददए गए हैं -

Activity 4: „एक यादगार यात्रा‟

एक पीऱी A-४ शीटपर एक बॉर्णर बनाएॉ। आपके द्िारा की गयी यात्रा के माध्यम (रेऱगाडी/ हिाईजहाज़ / बस / कार ) के चचत्र को बनाएॉ तथा उसचचत्र में एक खखडकी पर अपना फोटो चचपकाएॉ। अब ऐसा ऱगेगा जैसे की आप उसमें यात्रा कर रहे हैं!! यात्रा के दौरान आए प्राकृततक सौंदयण को भी आपके द्िारा बनाए गए इस चचत्र के चारों ओर बनाएॉ। उदाहरर्त: अगर आपकी यात्रा हिाई जहाज़ की थी तो हिाई जहाज़ का चचत्र बनाकर उसकी एक खखडकी में अपना एक चचत्र चचपकाओ। उडने के िक़्त के प्राकृततक दृश्य को इस हिाईजहाज़ के चारों ओर बनाएॉ। प्राकृततक दृश्य को एक िाक्य द्िारा बताएॉ।

जैसे:िाह! क्या शानदार दृश्य है।

िाह! सहुािना दृश्य देखकर मज़ा आ गया।

Activity 5: CRICKET MANIA

Cricket is one of the most popular sport in India

and IPL has become a very popular Tournament.

Indian and foreign players play for different

teams. They have to travel all across the country

to play their matches. So, let’s collect some data

from IPL 2018 and compare the performances of our cricketers. Choose any 5 batsmen

from any team of your choice and note down the runs scored by these batsmen in 5

matches and complete the table given below.

Data analysis of the runs scored by Batsmen:

Activity 6 – „TRAVELLING TIME: LEARNING TIME‟

While we travel we carry many games along with us. Example- Tambola, Ludo,

UNO cards etc. This time make your own board game and play and learn with

your family. One sample has been given for your reference.

HOW TO MAKE THIS BOARD GAME :

On A-4 size sheet select any one number from 17-19. Prepare this times

table game of that number and play with your family and friends.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLAYING THE GAME:

1. Roll the dice.

2. Move the number of spaces. Answer the multiplication correctly and

stay on that space. IF answer is incorrect, move back one space.

3. The player who gets a six first will get the chance to start the game.

ACTIVITY 7 : ‘A SAFE JOURNEY‟

‘Travelling is an extraordinary experience

every person needs. It opens you to a whole

new world out there and reveals your inner

strength.

Travel is generally a pleasurable experience, but there are certain rules

which have to be followed while traveling to make your experience safe and

memorable.

1. On an A4 size sheet write and draw/paste pictures about 5-6 safety rules

which are to be followed at any one of the following places:

a) Boarding any means of transport (train/bus/aeroplane / ship / metro

etc.)

b) At different places (malls/market/ airport/Railway stations/ bus

stands etc.)

c) At zoo, amusement parks, beaches, hill stations etc.

You must have had a lot of fun experiences while visiting that place. Share

those funny anecdotes with your friends in the class when you return after

the vacation.

ACTIVITY 8: ‘ART MEMORIES‟

1. On an A4 size sheet, draw any one famous art or craft of the place you

have visited in this summer vacation or a place which you would like to visit in

future.

2. Write the name of the place and name of the art on the top of the sheet.

(e.g.-Rajasthan- Block print, Bihar- Madhubani painting etc.)

3. You can make designs by using bits of papers, coloured pens, straws,

paper cuttings, water colours, wool etc.

ACTIVITY 9: „FOLLOW MY ROUTE‟

Someone has rightly said “It is better to see

something once than to hear about it a thousand

times”.

During this summer break you must have planned a trip with your family- your home town/

village or a place in the lap of mother nature, in hilly areas or to enjoy backwaters or in

the same city, just spending special time with your loved ones.

Make an information leaflet of your trip starting from your place to the planned

destination. On an A-4 size light coloured sheet, make a table of the information required

to reach a particular place. One example has been given for you.

ACTIVITY 10- “BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD“

With the increasing pollution all around, we are looking for ways to reduce it and become

eco friendly these days. So let’s continue our efforts and try to save our Earth from

further destruction.

‘TIME TO BECOME AN AUTOMATIVE DESIGNER WITH A DIFFERENT TOUCH’

Using the waste material(broken toys parts, buttons, ice cream sticks,empty cans, match

boxes etc,) design your own vehicle and give the name and model to it. Some examples

have been given to you.
